    Juniper Mountain Coffee

A while back Eastman's Forum members were offered a discount on Juniper Mountain Coffee. I bought 3 12 oz packages. It was very good coffee and I just ordered some more. I am a coffee drinker and it is really good, if you like coffee and the discount is still available, try some!

    Prime Rib Roasts

Our local Safeway Market has a big sale at Christmas/New Years time on Prime Rib Roasts. If you buy $50.00 worth of other groceries, you get the Prime Rib for $4.98 per pound. I bought 2 ( one 12# & one 14#) and will cut them into Ribeye Steaks. They are wonderful on the grill and you can't get...

    Windbreaker for sale

I spent a ton of time in Baja since 1973 and met some of the early pioneer travelers. Mike McMahon wrote several books and published a wonderful map. I was friends with him and his daughter (unfortunately both have passed away) His daughter Ginger made some great windbreaker imprinted with their...

    Monsoons

Our late summer monsoons have started. Every afternoon for the last 4 days we have had thunderstorms, lightning and rain. Yesterdays was spectacular, tons on lightning and thunder with huge rain cells. Got almost 1/4 inch in a few minutes time. Archery hunters, come prepared!

    Kids are so Innocent!

I was going thru some old pictures when I came across this one. It is of my son, who was about 5 at the time. We were sitting drinking a brewski or 2 and my wife said "Look at Steve!" We all started laughing and I took the picture. Kids are so innocent when they are young. We used to go to...

    Happy Father's Day

To all the Fathers out there....Happy Fathers Day to you all. I remember my Dad as the example in my life of what life and Fathers are all about. He was the rock of our family and the example for myself and my sisters to look up to. Dad passed in 2012 and is missed, but still in my life. 3...

    Lithium

I was drinking my morning coffee and watching the news on CNN when they did a segment on the new Lithium deposits in the geothermal area at the southeast part of the Salto Sea i California. In the 50's my Dad and some of his hunting buddies bought 160 acres for a duck hunting club right in...

It's May, but feels like August!

For the last 2 to 3 weeks it has rained every afternoon. Feels like August and Monsoon season. This afternoon it clouded up (after a beautiful sunny morning), lightning, thunder, hail and rain. We got over 1/2" and it's still raining. My place looks like a jungle with the weeds taking over. I...

    Knee Replacement Surgery

My left knee was totally gone (replaced the right one 20 years ago). Had it replaced last month. Everything was going great in my rehab, way ahead of schedule. On my way to PT a week and a half ago, I slipped and fell on some ice that was covered with snow so I didn't see it. I completely...

    SW Colorado Snow Pack

I just read in our local paper that the Dolores River basin has 146% of normal snow pack. The forecast is that all the local reservoirs will be full this year and have runoff. Fishing should be great and if we have some summer monsoons the high country should be fantastic. Got a new boat and...

    50's Gun Shop/Sporting Goods Store

My Dad owned a sporting goods store/gun shop for over 40 years. It was not in a strip mall and before big box stores. H e sold guns, ammunition, boats & outboard engines, athletic goods, fishing tackle & camping gear. He also rented guns (yep...it was legal then), camping gear and small...

Eastmans' Hunting Journal - Annual Mule Deer issue

I was reading several of the stories in the latest issue, lots of great stories and some gigantic bucks. One thing that bugs me is that some of the stories don't even have the state the buck was taken in. I think the writer of the story owes the reader at least the state where the deer was...
