I'm in Park city all week for work doing training and had a chance to hike a couple miles this morning uphill to prep me for Colorado in two weeks. 50° at sunrise beats the heck out of 90 and 100% humidity every day. This is a nice taste of what I'm going to be walking into in a couple weeks. I am pretty excited to be able to hike every morning on something other than a beach. Nothing get you ready for a few days in the mountains like a few days in the mountains!

Rode recumbent bike 30 mins on pikes peak setting got 8.7 miles

Was reading some stuff on plateaus in training. One topic was how to help with endurance and speed for running they recommended taking a day of distance running out and replace it with sprints. Said the sprints help build the I muscle and in turn build endurance and they went into some scientific info about how it works. Wondering what you guys think? And whats a good starting point for reps and distance for the sprints

If for nothing else, it will mix things up and keep you more interested and provide some muscle confusion.
However, it does really help as I followed a running plan earlier this year that recommend the sprints. Start with 100yds of sprints for every 1/2 mile. Or some folks add in a 20 second speed burst every 3-4 minutes or once recovered.

Decided i was going to try the run 100m walk 100m eight sets. Was going to use the football field at the middle school as a guide point but forgot its season. So went and found a hill.

Did 8 hill sprints which i used my app to calculate distance which was 140 yards up hill.

Did a mile warmup walk before hand and some other warmups.

2 sets 30sec of jumping jacks
3 sets 10 squats
Ab crunches 3 sets 30
Biceps curl 3 sets 15 20#
Shoulder press 2 sets 10 20#
Triceps press 3 sets 10 20#
Front raises 2 sets 10 20#

Been running and weightlifting all my life, but added hills to the treadmill a month ago. Yesterday's workout was 60mins at 15% grade. Total elevation gain was 2692'. Doesn't sound like much until you do the math. That's an elevation gain of 9"...EVERY SECOND.
