Good luck Marcus! I am hoping you won't have to go under the knife either, surgery is painful and often frustrating to say the least.

One full month at the gym and not in my garage gym. Starting to get some weight on some of the core lifts that I have been hacking for the last couple of years. Which is good, but I also have to be careful making sure that I don't overdo it.

I am debating having what I put together evaluated at the 6 week mark. I am not plateauing by any stretch, but after 20 years of doing this I know it is coming and sometimes an outside perspective works really well.

From an outsider’s perspective, pushing too hard recently by progressing possibly too fast with weight increases, now has me kinda sidelined with a nagging elbow injury. Do yourself a favor and dont push too hard, too fast. Dont think any of us are 21 anymore haha.

That's involved in the bariatric department and honestly the only reason I agreed to go to there cause they have a full staff of nutritionists and exercise science people on staff. Also my insurance requires me go through nutritionalist and weight management help for at least 12 weeks before they consider paying for it. The nutritionist is the real reason I'm going.

Chest and tris today, will hit the squats tomorrow. The middle of the pyramid is going down a couple in reps as the weight goes up.

Does anyone do anything differnt, added stretches, best stretches for IT band pain? I do more of a dynamic all body warm up now vice an all static stretch warmup.

My issue is post legs day I have pain on the hip area of connection of the ITB and the outside knee connection. More soreness on the hip but limping pain on the knee connection.

I'm thinking. Less squats? Better warmup targeting that more? Warmup with dynamic stuff and static ?

I roll it out, ice, Ibuprofen and within two days I'm good to go but it's starting to really hurt more the harder I push my body.

Thoughts, comments. Thanks

Slugz, some may call me crazy but I avoid static stretching before lifting or running. Its been proven to limit your muscles when done immediately before strength training or running. Try only using a foam roller & dynamic warm-ups ( high knees & butt kicks specifically) before your workout and static stretching and foam rolling post-workout.

I had IT band issues last fall when I pushed my running distances too far too fast. After my last Spartan race I just had to quit running period to heal it up. Kept strength training though. No stretching, rolling or anti-inflammatories would help. About 2.5 months later I was good to go. Eased back into running and Ive been great all year so far.
