I just saw Hwy 10 areas being evacuated... Apparently you are correct Buzz... Sure hope they find who started this fire.

Little over 25,000 acres now and growing. The wind is very bad out there today and several small cabin communities are at risk in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Anyone tried the Vortex ones for $1200? Reviews sound good overall and the price is right.

Guessing many didn't notice- The elk had a broken rear leg. He was going to die by one means or another in the next month or two. Still hard to watch.

Update - This fire will also likely impact elk area 9 and deer area 76. They are evacuating the western edge of that region now in the Rob Roy reservoir area. Anyone planning to hunt the Snowy Range should check closures before travelling out.

No lightning/storms in the area recently so this has to be 100% human started. Savage run needed to burn but the timing sure stinks.

New Fire started today. Thought I would get word out for anyone planning to hunt deer area 78 and elk areas 110. It's in the savage run wilderness currently but will likely have an impact on a good amount of this area.

Stay determined and be willing to do what is necessary. Over the years I have talked to so many people that were unwilling to go where they really needed to to find elk. I personally would rather pack for 2 days than hunt for 5 unsuccessfully.

I have one decent one and one cheaper one that I use only as a short hike day pack. I am in the market if anyone has one too many that they want to get rid of cheap!

That's some good shooting! The differences in point of impact under different conditions is what keeps me from shooting further than 500 yards. I honestly limit myself to 400 unless conditions are very good. Question, does anyone use a shooting app in the field? I don't even care for the...

One point of interest- The difference in impact at my current elevation/temp vs 9k feet at 50 degrees is substantial. With a 200 yard zero, my drop at home is -59.2". At 9k elevation, it is -50.6". (At 500 yards)

I am packed and ready to head to Wyoming October 9th for deer and elk. We had a calm cool morning yesterday so I took the opportunity to shoot longer range. I shot my best 3 shot, 500 yard, group of the year - 4.1". It's not amazing but I am confident to that range under calm conditions...
