    Colorado Grizzly Creek Fire

The view from the Laramie valley yesterday afternoon was impressive. The smoke from the fire looked like a large thunderstorm. With the high number of people up here in the mountains, I'm afraid we may see other fires started.

    Mule Deer

Can't help with region R processors. My family has always really enjoyed mule deer burger mixed with 10-15% beef fat. We have done jerky, sausage, etc but generally the mule deer becomes our burger that we use for sliders, spaghetti, lasagna, etc.. The steaks can be hit or miss but I have had...

    2020 Fishing

Got a bunch of kids out this weekend for one last trip before school starts. We caught a pile of fish. Sore hands today from cleaning so many fish. We ended up keeping around 300 over the course of 3 days. They will be split between 7 households.

    New Mexico requiring quarantine

My conclusion that Wyoming and Montana have the lowest per capita? I was just starting the simple fact. They have the fewest mandates but also have the lowest # of cases. You can draw your own conclusions and try to draw politics in. I did not. I thought people hunting in these states may...

    New Mexico requiring quarantine

    Learning Curves of Bowhunting

I missed several shots as a kid because I didn't learn to control my emotions or have a pre-shot routine. Once I developed the pre-shot routine my hunting accuracy improved dramatically. Mine is a very simple pre shot mental checklist that I force myself to go through. Anchor Grip Breath...

    New Mexico requiring quarantine

Crazy times we are living in. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. However, since you're in favor of this rule, how does it make sense to allow outfitted hunts and not diy hunts? On an outfitted hunt, the non-resident is at minimum in direct contact with 1(or likely more) local individuals...

    New Mexico requiring quarantine

So you have to quarantine unless you are paying for a guided hunt? What a bunch of crap... Note: there is an exception to this according to the New Mexico Council Of Outfitters and Guides (NMCOG). Anyone who is "contracted by an essential business" and because "all outfitter clientele is, by...

    Archery Targets

I have the glendel buck full rut for the backyard. It is 7-8? years old and still working. Outside of that, I really like the standard bag targets. I enjoy taking targets to different locations to shoot. I shoot expandables so I practice with field points the majority of the year.

    The July/August Fat Off

I yo-yo'd a bit in July. Tough month to eat healthy. We had 3 different camping trips and just were overall really busy which made cooking and eating healthy very difficult. I still managed to drop 6 pounds but will have to hit it hard this month to reach my goal of 235. 10 pounds to go.

    Arrows and broad heads

Without knowing your archery setup, the best advice we can offer is to make sure you shoot arrows that are correctly spined for your draw weight and arrow length. All broadheads work if you can get them into the lungs imo.

If you have the negative test, you don't have to quarantine if I am reading it correctly.

    Alaska - negative test required

https://www.adn.com/alaska-news/2020/07/28/governor-announces-all-nonresidents-will-have-to-arrive-in-alaska-with-negative-covid-19-tests/ Not sure how this can work with a 72 hour requirement? I know many aren't getting results back that fast.

    Favorite mule deer bullet?

Yes I strongly suggest that simply to save some meat. Rapid expansion bullets cause more meat loss in my opinion and also increase your chances of fragments in your meat a long ways from the impact area. They do tend to bang flop deer though if that is #1 priority.
