    Favorite Hunts

I voted archery elk but in reality, whatever tag I draw in Wyoming typically gets 100% of my focus. Unless point creep gets crazy, I should be headed there for several years in a row. If I get lucky and draw elk random before 2024, plans will shift to incorporate an archery elk hunt. 2021 -...

How many of you will get the Covid shot?

Why are you targeting this at me? I said they were skeptical whether it had happened yet because it hasn't been confirmed. I never stated anything otherwise. In all my posts, I am simply stating what is actually happening. Many areas are approaching herd immunity before the vaccine has...

How many of you will get the Covid shot?

There are a few reports but there is skepticism because there have been so many false positives. For instance our local football team gets tested daily. They have had 20 false positives over the last 2 months and 1 actual confirmed positive after pcr testing. The general public doesn't get...

How many of you will get the Covid shot?

I believe you are likely correct in many instances. I just think it will be too late to do any good for the general population in most areas. I have done the most work on this in Nebraska as it's part of my job. We currently have had 149,344 positive cases. It is generally accepted by the...

How many of you will get the Covid shot?

I think the vaccine is going to be available about the time most areas are reaching, or will have already reached herd immunity. Glancing around various state websites today, a lot are rapidly declining. The entire state of Wyoming only had 15 confirmed on Saturday. Nebraska is steadily...

Bulls Taken in 2020 with what bullet and caliber combos?

I'm not sure you definition of a poor shot and mine are the same? Through the ribs is the goal, no? When it comes to elk and obvious poor shots, caliber doesn't matter much imo. Through the shoulders at long range is debatable, I agree. I have seen a 7mm-08 and a .308 (with bonded bullets)...

    Wyoming Moose hunt, Archery

I can't speak for other states but in Wyoming a cow tag has become very difficult to get. Last year there were a total of 6 permits that went to non-residents. 1 permit in area 3 that took 5 points to draw, 1 permit in area 25 that took 11 points to draw, 3 permits in area 38 that took 11...

    Wyoming Moose hunt, Archery

Hi Ben. Sorry to be there bearer of bad news. Your only chance to draw a bull tag would be in the random draw. It currently is takiing more points than you have, even in the easiest to draw area, to get a bull tag. Once point creep is factored in, you likely have another 15-20 years before...

    Region G

I think the region G ship has sailed. Between the high publicity and the winter kills, it just isn't worth the points to draw as a non-resident imo.

The time is almost here again...

I'm curious if Wyoming's elk draw date will discourage a few applicants. That is a pretty big change that may shake up some strategies.

Bulls Taken in 2020 with what bullet and caliber combos?

My buddy and I have taken a few elk with 180 grain corelokt. Pretty underrated bullet in today's hunting world. They always worked great for us.

How many of you will get the Covid shot?

To go along with my statements above, I thought it would be good to share my first hand experience. I have seen this impact people differently. Several people in my small community of 800 have passed. All were 70+ and not in great shape except for one. One guy was 56 and in relatively good...

How many of you will get the Covid shot?

If a person can't develope antibodies, the vaccine won't do anything for them. A vaccine works by injecting a simulated or actual virus into your system so your body develops antibodies. I don't understand your point with the second paragraph. If the vaccine won't work, it won't matter if a...

How many of you will get the Covid shot?

I think people who can prove they have already had this should be able to show proof of antibodies instead of requiring them to be vaccinated. The vaccine is doing the exact same thing - forcing the body to develop antibodies. The current area I live in is sitting at approximately 70% infection...

Bulls Taken in 2020 with what bullet and caliber combos?

I understand. I'm a fan of bonded lead bullets for big game. I don't care for the non lead offerings available on the market. To me, that is the real debate where people differ.

Bulls Taken in 2020 with what bullet and caliber combos?

I'll play along - 165 grain Interbond, 30-06, 250 yards after angle comp - real distance just over 300. Bull travelled about 40 yards. This bullet/caliber combination has taken quite a few elk for me. Not sure what to debate? Gobs of great combinations out there if the shooter does his/her part.

How many of you will get the Covid shot?

I'll likely be required to at some point for my job. I'm not against it but like others I have concerns about the speed it was developed and the lack of testing.

Breaking in a new rifle barral

Each manufacturer has their own instructions/recommendations. I have always tried to follow the specific manufacturer's recommendations. There are also differences in recommendations between barrel materials/finishes so make sure you are following the correct procedure for the actual model you...
