    Question...Starter Gun For Kids?

I started both of my boys with a single shot 22 at 5 years old. My first gun I owned was a break action .410. I believe I was 10 years old.

    What kind of hunter...

Opportunistic meat hunter. I enjoy all weapons, all seasons, and any species I have a tag for. I love packing in but also really enjoy spot and stalk from a pickup. Tree stands in the whitetail woods are almost as enjoyable as belly crawling the desert for antelope- I just like to hunt...

    2021 Fishing

Took a bunch of kids out over the weekend. My 8 year old niece caught this big gill - 11.25". I switched to large bass worm hooks to avoid catching the smaller fish- worked well. The kids caught 100+ fish but I didn't get many pictures as it was a rare time one didn't need a little help.

Wyo Task Force - Nonres Comments!

I feel the same. A bonus point system isn't great but it would be a whole lot better than 90/10 with the current PP system. Going to this would also likely keep up PP revenue for the state. I would still rather they offer to allow transfer of big 5 points to another species. At this point, I...

Wyo Task Force - Nonres Comments!

I am a non resident. I oppose a blanket 90/10 but... I have several resident friends who would gladly trade their 3-6 tags for one they have been trying to draw for 10+ years. I get the principal behind it. Stinks to apply for a tag that you can't draw but me as a non resident have drawn it...

    2021 WY Quality

It's not looking good from a moisture standpoint. I would still guess there will be some 80" bucks roaming if a guy puts the time in. On a year like this, I would be there 2-3 days early to scout so you can be on one of them opening morning.

Wyo Task Force - Nonres Comments!

As a non resident I have come to terms with 90/10 and the big 5. It's inevitable... I do think we see a change in the draw process as well though. To keep PP revenue up, a bonus system will be about the only way to maintain interest.

    Elk steaks for dinner

Cook really slow to 130F, rest and then reverse sear. They turn out amazing but it takes a while.

    Elk steaks for dinner

I'm running really low on steaks... My bull was fantastic from last season so he has been on the menu frequently. This steak was from a couple nights ago.

    Locator beacon

I guess I embrace the back country experience knowing that I am on my own- having something like that would take something away from the experience for me. Not faulting anyone that does it, the thread just surprised me as those thoughts just don't cross my mind.

    Beginner Elk Hunt- Wyoming

For a DIY with 5 points, general is your best option for a chance at a mature bull. That said, a first time elk hunter hunting in a general high pressure area has a very low probability of shooting a big bull. If you want to fill the tag, shoot the first legal elk you get a chance at. With...

    2021 Hunting Goals

3 main goals this year- #1 help my son during his first year of archery deer hunting. Baseball will be over in about a week so our #1 focus will be to get him into good form and build shooting confidence over the next 2-3 months. #2 help my son on his first Wyoming hunt. We both drew any...

    Missing park ranger since 1980

Here is a little more about the story for anyone who wants to dig in... I think the guy walked away from his life personally. https://www.outsideonline.com/2421919/paul-fugate-park-ranger-search

    Wall Tent Camp Rental

It pays $50 to $100 per day + tips. I have a buddy that cooks for a few hunts every year. It's pretty low stress and you can make decent money in tips if you have the right personality and can cook good food.

How many of you will get the Covid shot?

If you progress like me and several others I know who had it, you will feel pretty good by day 6 and completely normal by day 9 or 10.

Wyoming NR general tags - how many point required this year ??

I would agree... but I think people are jumping the gun on elk. The earliest 90/10 could impact anyone is 2023 and General tags would only be positively impacted IF it even passes. I think the bigger concern for some is the likely price increases that will go along with 90/10 for non...

    Wildlife task force, 90-10, etc.

I'm a guy holding quite a few moose points. It stinks to think they may become worthless soon. That said, I am encouraged that the big push is only on the big 5 right now. I also love to hunt elk, deer and antelope so I guess I would take that trade off and lose my points if we could keep...
