    Which One Would You Shoot?

If anyone responded whitetail I would be surprised and confused. That is a decent whitetail buck but that is a once in a lifetime mule deer. Most living out west will never have a chance at a deer like that. Most whitetail hunters will have numerous chances at bucks that caliber in their...

Wyo Task Force - Nonres Comments!

I would agree- that's the best options for the guys who have moose on their bucket list. I have looked at those options extensively. I almost booked a hunt but in the end I really didn't like the style of hunts I was finding. Some in the Peace River were in my budget but success rates varied...

Looking for recommendations for New Mexico elk outfitter

I guided on property that shared fence lines with them 20+ years ago. Lot of good bulls there back then. I hated guiding in the oak brush but we always found our clients their bull. Some of them had really large bodies. One we got out whole weighed 655 at the butcher with internals removed-...

A lot of people are lowering area expectations now that they know the system will likely change. The point creep over the last few years in the non resident draw is obvious. People are trying to bail but there is nowhere near enough tags. My strategy has been to build points for a less...

    The Memes Thread!

I would just be happy if a person had to prove they were a citizen and had a tax return to show they contributed. I think that would fix a whole lot of our problems.

Good question- I'm not aware of any. The problem with converting to more LQ areas is maintaining the 7250 non-resident elk tags under 90-10. The more LQ areas that are created, the more crowding you will see in the general units left. I think it will be more likely they change to regions...

Jim, the residents I know are 100% against a waiting period. I think your math is good but the reality is the majority of the population prefers a simple random draw with no points, and no waiting period. A good portion of the state is against even having PP for the big 5. From a resident...

    Not a single antelope tag

For residents of Laramie and Cheyenne it's not a bad tag- I agree. For a non-resident it becomes a lot more challenging as they have to try to guess when to come... and hope the antelope are on one of 3 less than square mile pieces next to the highway.

    Not a single antelope tag

Going to be a lot of disappointed non-resident hunters in North East Wyoming. Access up there is a real problem. That's why those tags usually don't sell. edit to add- also those drawing that area 38 tag south of 34. Basically nowhere to hunt other than a few small pieces of BLM that will be...

Rich, I understand where you are coming from. Some guys do that. However, it's not like I or anyone one else who has invested in Wyoming big 5 can just pick up and move those points to another state. Wyoming changing the game after buying over a decades worth of points is deception...

Do you happen to remember how WG&F marketed the preference point program? Plenty is still out there to be found. Here is a quote directly from the WG&F analysis report in 1996- ""A preference point system will ultimately guarantee an applicant a license." Upon reviewing the commission felt...

Wyoming NR general tags - how many point required this year ??

I'm trying to do that for Wyoming moose but unfortunately I tried a couple of years too late. Seems to be a mass exodus of teens point holders jumping out of the game.

Wyoming NR general tags - how many point required this year ??

Some are likely mistakes but I know of a couple guys just jumping out of the game and wanted to burn their points.

Wyoming NR general tags - how many point required this year ??

They are discussing deer, elk, and antelope as well. I just noticed it is added to the discussion. Discussing "private landowner matters" is the most concerning language to me. Transferrable landowner tags would be bad for residents and non-residents alike. Hoping that is met with strong...

If you are going guided, 108 should be a consideration. You are a point or so short for the areas I would recommend for DIY.

African Hunting Antelope in WY unit 113

I can appreciate your ambition but there is no need to hike in for days at a time. That area has plenty of public land and access. I would suggest you get the OnX app for your phone or a GPS unit to make sure you stay on public land. Use your vehicle to check from area to area and short hikes...
