    .416's w/ 350gr TSX @~2700fps?

came across a .416 rem load with a 350 tsx around 2700fps Have a .340wby, thinking possibly insead of the 375H&H, that a 416rem/rigby could do more for me. maybe one day I'll have both, but would the 416 be better for me than the 375. maybe one day I'll hunt brown bear and africa, but more...

    2020 goals/desires

I have points to burn in WY for Elk, but their deadline always catches me unready... Debating an DIY archery elk hunt, possibly in MT, NM if lucky in draws, or maybe an Antelope somewhere? Probably some archery IL whitetails, maybe IA too. good luck to all!

Something more to ponder during application periods

I hear ya. Honestly if they only want $$$$, just make all tags 1 price, non-resident pricing! or in-between!, the $$$$ increase would be insane! simple math, issue half the tags....so pressure just went down 50%, charge the non-res fee, we'll assume 10x, for simple math, that would create...

Something more to ponder during application periods

I see no reason to have a deadline of Jan31st or whatever, and then a drawing 3.5months later. I don't know why Wyoming can't walk and chew gum at the same time... app deadline of say march 30.... and drawing by april 30th... easy enough for everyone.

    Rethinking Deer Gun

6mm Rem. AI, since you reload? may give you enough extra juice... 6.5 Creed 6.5 PRC .260 7mm-08 25-06 w/ 100gr might be a nice option? 270 w/130gr.

    Best Western Caliber?

Of late I'm thinking the 6.5 PRC and .300 WSM would be a great combo to hunt most of the west with, I do also kind of like the .340 Wby as a bigger 3rd option, but the first 2 could really cover some ground I'm thinking. If not those 2, something close to a .270win and .300 win.mag. I think are...

    Rethinking my loads/calibers for deer.

what's the BC of the 150 vs the 117..? I wonder if a higher bc from the 300, like a 165, 180 would be better? or are you thinking you want speed/flatter out to 500 or so? good luck!

5.56 Coyote Load? 223? FMJ? HPBT?

Anyone out there have a go to 5.56 coyote load? I have a 7 twist so thinking heavier the better, 62, 68, 75, 77. Haven't test the rifle enough yet to know if it loves a particular load. Did test a 62gr FMJ american eagle bullet into about 2ft worth of magazines....and granted it was basically...

    Hornady Precision Hunter

see how a 130gr TTSX looks.... may have a higher bc and faster/more energy at long range... my 270 loves 130... could buy a couple boxes of the 145 eld-x ammo and see how it groups... check the charts, how much more energy does that 145 have at 500 than the 140?? Have you thought about...

    Bison mounted and hung

haha, I was thinking about a turned head mount, but full body bison would just be ridiculous! you're making me think... Kind of want to take a bison with a .458 Lott... kind of a modern throw back to the was it 45-110/45-120, I think some guys use the .45-70...

    Bison mounted and hung

I hear ya. I'd like to draw a WY Moose one of these years... and maybe get lucky with a Goat draw. I'd consider applying for BHS if I didn't have to buy the point, may look into that more, but at this point I don't want/need WY sheep points, way too long of odds, i figure the random tag is my...

    Bison mounted and hung

Finally put the bison up on the wall in the right spot. Pictures rarely do justice of the size. Think I need a 2nd bison! It was funny in the process of mounting my Buffalo, my taxidermist said get the classic straight on view. Then a while later another taxidermist told me never get the...

    hiking vs jogging to prepare

as a slow runner who's attempting to get faster... my suggestion is mix it up, vary it up more rather than less! hiking walking is ok, and in the mountains or up hills may actually get the heart going, but according to my heart rate watch....walking hiking around here my heart will beat at...
