What are all these states going to do when they reach the maximum tag price a hunter will pay...? Have to actually budget/plan? raise resident tag fees? I'd almost like to see all non-res band together and pick 1 state to not apply to, maybe rotate states each year... we could do it, still...

Heard the hunt has become tougher.... yet the outfitters still claim a 95% + success rate I read... so may consider getting a guide.... that bull tag keeps going up! $$$$ good luck!

I would just make sure it's built on a short action, not long action. and I would probably want a 22" barrel, not 24", possibly even 20". Good luck! Let us know what you decide. believe the tikka and weatherby in 6.5cm, would only be built on long actions... weatherby mkv long action...

Thanks for the info, think you may have misread what I meant... at first was thinking an easy to draw tag for just any good tasting elk... archery ideally but open to a rifle hunt, was more interested in being successful harvesting any elk.... rather than a trophy monster etc... but do have 13...

strongly considering a DIY archery elk hunt this fall, just not sure where... I have points in most states that I probably don't want to burn, so 2nd choice or a draw somewhere like ID, NM, etc...maybe MT or other state and not burn my points. would like to be successful harvesting an elk with...

PS- if they were really worried about rifle hunters in NP, they could allow bow hunters the opportunity first at least... lots of better options, to start at least... before paying shooters.
