Here is a couple pics of mine. I have since replaced the cab enclosure with a much better one and built a bed rack do extra gear, custom made windshield with glass not the plastic crap.

This one has a 3” lift kit and I have a small heater I bring with my when it’s real cold out. I Herculined the bed and added back up lights.

I have a 2017 Polaris RZR. I like it because its narrow but can still carry a fair amount of weight. I have had a half elk and a whole wife on it (considered a whole elk and half a wife but decided against it).

But as nv-hunter pointed out, the air intakes are in a horrible location right above the rear tires.

I've been wanting to build a rack for my Ranger, I like that one very much. I like the idea of doing "Ranger camp" something halfway between backpacking and truck camping. I've done it a bit. I pack somewhat light but take the tipi with wood stove, a small poly folding table, couple bag chairs, coleman camp stove, and cooler with real food. I can be comfortable but more mobile this way and keep the truck and trailer somewhere I can get out of easier if a storm or skiff of snow and inexperienced drivers hit.

Last year I muley hunted a unit where we got a 15" snow on the first day of our hunt. We got around fine getting to where we wanted to hike in and glass and most of it melted off by day 3. The last day of muley season was the day before the elk opener and we got another 5" that got packed and then the sun came out and made it somewhat slick. A lot of people pulling 40ft campers and toy haulers coming in for elk season got jack knifed or spun out and blocked the roads. I didn't have any issues as far as the roads with my truck and 14ft stock trailer hauling my UTV but had lots of hold-ups with roads being blocked. It's part of hunting and I'm not trying to bash other hunters, I just am thinking of ways to avoid repeating the experience. Leaving the truck and trailer out where the roads are wider and going in with the UTV sounds like a good one. Biggest issue would be fuel for a longer hunt in an unfamiliar unit. I like to cover country and see what the unit offers on a trip like that.

I have a 2015 mid-sized Polaris Ranger 570, and have close to 4K miles on it with no mechanical issues. You have to keep in mind that this is more of a "utility" type of UTV, rather than a serious off-roader. You can get everything that you want or need as far as power, speed, comfort, back country capability as long as you don't mind paying $25 grand for it. I have all the power that I need, and get over 20 mpg, so that give me over a 200 mile range. I did put a 2" lift kit on, and may upsize the tires from the stock 25" since I need new tires anyway. I also built a wood box that is easy to remove that allows for a lot more gear hauling when it's installed. We don't have much of a dust issue, but the air filter is easy to access and service anyway.
Ditto on using low range except for when you are driving on easy terrain. A hunting partner smoked his belt while driving in the super sticky gumbo on a recent WY trip and he had never shifted out of high. The other Ranger towed him out 14 miles through the slop using low range and had no problems. Always have a spare belt, some tools, a tow strap, a winch (or come-a-long), survival gear, plug-in air compressor, etc. etc. (Now you can see while built the box.)
