    The Memes Thread!

I'll laugh at a meme that pokes fun at either side of the political aisle.. If they're funny. No matter how you vote, you can't deny that the R's have the meme market cornered.

    New Gear This Year?

I bought some land this year, so I expanded my trail cam collection and picked up a few used tree stands to place throughout. The only thing I've really had to buy for my trips west this year was a 6 pack of polyester/spandex boxer shorts from Walmart. Gotta keep that chafing away!

    Success in Nevada

Very nice. It's exciting to see people beginning to take game as fall seasons get started.

    Region R

    Where you hunting this year?

Well I got a tag! Early rifle. I guess I'll find out if it's a good one or not, lol. I'll be tacking this onto the beginning of the Wyoming trip. Seasons overlap and hunt areas are only about 2 hours apart, so I may even bounce back/forth a bit.

    Friendly Hunting Competition???

I participate in a deer contest on a local hunting forum. It's all honor system based, and there are no prizes. For the majority of participants, it's just for fun and don't really care if the team wins or loses. There have been a couple issues though. Five new guys created accounts and a...

    Goals For 2020 Hunting Season?

My goal is to spend the most amount of time possible in the field. I'm booked pretty solid from mid September until Christmas. I hope to share some of that time with my girls. We have hunters education the next two weekends.

Dadgum. At least it's not boring work.

    Where you hunting this year?

There will be many, many good tags added to that list over the next 3 months. Gotta be quick though.

    Where you hunting this year?

Kansas deer in September, Wyoming deer in October, Montana deer and cow elk in November, Indiana deer filling in the gaps on the calendar. May add on Colorado deer if I can snag a good leftover.

    Bonus and preference points

The $50 preference point you got there will help you draw the general deer and/or elk combo (general tag). The bonus points will increase your odds of pulling a limited permit if you choose to apply for one. You've got what you need there if you intend to apply for special permits in Montana. A...

    Deer 2021

I intend to try for a 3rd season hunt next year. Who knows what draw odds will be like though.

    Moon phase and mule deer

I'm no help with the moon. I've never paid much attention to it for any species. But, if I could be there for 2 weeks, I'd say go the two weeks that you can have a rifle in hand the entire duration. That's what I'm doing this October anyway..

    Youth Antelope Hunts

Points and tags are cheap, dates are the same. If he has, or you think one day he might have, any interest in going then do it!

    How much is too much?

That's what I do.. Sleep in the car or camp, bring food from home, etc. I'd rather do a bunch of cheap trips than one expensive hunt every few years.

    How much is too much?

For me, it's definitely fluid. For the most part, I throw out applications then make it work with money/vacation time. If I draw some high $$ tags or hunts with higher travel costs, I'll cut back somewhere else to make it happen. I'd say I spend an average of $3-4 k per year to do 3-4 week(ish)...

What would be your dream hunt?

I'd just like a nice 6 month stretch, August-January, without a single work day and some $$ for tags and gas. I'd be happy doing all OTC even. Just that much time would be incredible.

    Cabin Build Delayed

Yikes. Looks great now, but I feel for you. We're neck deep in a remodel of a late 1800's farmhouse, we've found some defects but nothing like that luckily.
