Thanks Jim. Yep, 2nd rifle is mostly November this year. Applying for a tag enables the pp purchase, but it'll add roughly $100 to the cost. Nonresidents must buy a small game license to enter the draw. Don't need it to buy an OTC tag.

Invest in some quality cold-weather gear, 2nd rifle is in November this year! You might not need it, but you probably will. You can buy your tag online, and it's good for any OTC unit.

I "think" I'll be tagging along on a Wyoming archery elk hunt, playing guide/caller/packer. I'll try for a cow tag, but odds are fairly long. Will probably do Kansas deer. I'd like to go during early ML again, but with the elk hunt I'll probably have to wait until regular firearms. Hopefully...

The only definites for me are Indiana turkey and whitetail, like every year. Aside from that, my plans always look like a poster-sized flowchart of scenarios depending on draws, hunting partners, family plans, etc. Oftentimes by fall, my actual schedule looks nothing like my tentative plans...

I'd mostly focus on finding access points to BLM/State/Block Management, identify the areas you can access easily in crappy weather (pavement or gravel), glassing points, etc. Don't worry as much about the deer you see or don't see, they'll be a lot more visible in November.
