I pumped out 23 pullups this morning as part of my regular exercise. I haven't done that in over 30 years. I don't know any 20 year olds who can do it. I saw a young man shadow sparing while driving thru town yesterday and thought about stopping to give him a real challenge. What do you guys think. I'm not 70 until August.
Well……color me as very envious! Great job!

I used to do a lot of pull-ups…..35 years ago! 🤬 Will be be 70 in December, and have started, in January, to try and get back into some semblance of decent shape! I want to incoprorate pull-ups into my little workout routine….but, just can’t get started with them. Maybe next week……hopefully can start at 10 and slowly increase. But, carrying an additional 20 pounds or so will not help any!

Presently my workout is 40 push-ups, 100 crunche, 3 sets (15,12,10) of “preacher curls” with 20 lb. dumbbell, and 6.5 miles in 20 minutes on a Swinn Airdyne (using legs only), totaling 7.5 miles after the 5 minute cooldown. This is my every other day routine.

My goal is too merely drop a few pounds and get into a little better shape! If it just so happens to improve my hunting abilities…..so be it!

Keep up the good work! memtb

I put a suspended ceiling in my whole finished basement over 30 years ago and was unable to raise my arms over my head for months afterwards. It turns out that I have a common design flaw with the shape of the acromin (SP?), That's where the main nerve goes through the shoulder just under a bone...overhead work creates inflamation, and that builds on itself. It wasn't until I started doing pullups again as part of my exercise routine that the issue mostly went away. Pullups don't hurt at all when I do them, but pushups sure do. But, I am amazed at how quickly I firm up my upper body if I stick to it.

Did some stationary bike work last week and did a 4 mile run Thursday. Left for the weekend and my one knee been all screwed up since my run Thursday. Pain on the knee side leg side of the knee. May be taking a week off from runs and just do a bunch of biking. It been painful to walk on some times.

Treadmill for me today, still haven't committed for a MTN Tough plan yet, but I will at some point soon. The KB20 intrigues me, but the off season strength is something that might get a hard look too.

We're still doing HP20, but not 5 days/week as it's designed. We're doing 2 days of it each week, along with strength training and mobility work. Yesterday was a Day 3 workout. Lots of core and cardio for that one. Next one this week will be a Pack In Pack Out - lots of squats and lunges with heavy packs, then heavier packs.

We'll likely stick with this program through September. I'm already feeling stronger and have more stamina. After September, we'll probably use one of their other programs for a while. I've been really pleased with the content and the delivery method. It's nice to just work along with the videos.

It is pretty crazy to me how much can simply be fixed by movement at any given point. We were designed for movement and lack thereof, even with a decent diet can cause problems.

Anyone that might be interested... Last December I started the MTN TOUGH program and man do I feel ready for the mountain. They have at-home programs, gym programs, and even nutrition programs to get you ready for the fall. Super easy and user-friendly with their workout videos with step by step on each workout. I personally bought the full-year all-season program. Go check it out if you may be interested.

I went whitewatering with the Holland brothers on saturday, fun day of whitewater. Nate the middle brother is a 3 time olympian in the snowboard boardercross event. He does not have the body of a typical olympian. But his mindset is definatly of one. he does prove to me the mind is the most powerful muscle we have. His determination and focus and really big balls is why he went 3 times, won numerous x games and artic man competitions.

After only being able to complete 3/4 of our MtnTough HP20 workout a couple days ago, due to yet another freaking 110 degree day in our garage gym, my son and I changed our daily routines so we can workout at 6am instead of 5pm. Got through the entire workout this morning, no problem. It was tough, and we were drenched in sweat. But we didn't hit the wall with heat exhaustion. I'm sick of the heat. Just thought I'd throw that in. LOL :D
