This heat and humidity is certainly helping to burn the calories faster, how about it?
Just got in from 2.5 miles with a 40lb pack through some of the rougher ground around. Lots of creek crossings and banks to climb. Heat index shows 105 now, it sucks! It will make walking with a lighter pack in cool mountains seem so much better doing the work now though.

85º no A/C, going to sweat anyway. So I took my 7 year old daughter, and 9 year old son on a 2 hour long bike ride. I even did the monkey bars a couple times at a park we stopped at along the way. Going to be doing some hiking trips starting next month, but I'm feeling good!

Hiked Medicine Bow Peak on Saturday, 7.2 miles with about 1800' of elevation gain topping out a little over 12k'. Got in some short technical mountain bike rides over 10k' as well this weekend while camping.

Took day off for recovery

Forgot to post weigh in was up 2 pounds last week back to 271.8. The busy weekend and teaveling getting the camper and lack of sleep did me in food wise a few to many times out to eat.

One thing im changing to help combat some of my recent over eatting issues is to set a dinner menu for the week that works with my work schedule so its not last minute decisions. And try and focus more on my self control and water intake( which has been lower then before). Try and make this life sytle change work when im super busy not just when its normal weeks

Your race results are just fine Marcus! Congrats on the sub 9 on the 5k!!!!
Thanks yeah im not mad at it would have liked a little better time but im happy with the fact ive been pretty consistent this year on my race times. 26:17, 27:04, 27:30, 27:40 are pretty good times consisdering where i was over a year and a half ago. Now to work on getting my leg strength up so my leg fatigue isnt holding my times back

One thing that has really helped my wife and I over the years, is to sit down and plan out 7 meals for the week, we don't specifically plan any of them for a specific night, just have a plan for the week. And we always have a couple different premade meals in the freezer, just in case we're running late one night, and need a quick meal. With that quick option, we rarely eat fast food.

Im might try having the few prepared meals ready in the freezer we started this week with scheduling meals for certain days based on my work schedule. So far its working nice.

Did the 2.5mile hike again last night with the 70lb pack. Today we got a much needed rain and I didn't get out. Rained all day and we had a meeting tonight. I haven't been quite as consistent as I'd like the last couple weeks with work and evening commitments. We are done with prairie hay so work should slow a bit. I've still been getting in a hike 3-4x per week, 2 to 3 with 70lbs and the rest with 40lbs of gear.

Our family needs to get better about meal planning and using more fresh food. We don't make it to the grocery store every week in town. We eat a lot from the garden and home raised beef. Store bought produce doesn't always get used quick enough as our work schedules are both so variable and you can't stock up on it for to long a time. Definitely something to work on, we have been trying but could do better.
