Been doing "micro-workouts" at work. Stairs, squats, mostly lower body stuff just to get some reps in. Hit the gym this morning for first time in months, 15 minutes on the tread mill bout killed me : (

Haven't worked out much lately -- trip to Hawaii with wife in Feb, then trip to Moab with ATV's three weeks ago. And daughter's graduation. Busy spring. Now i'm getting back after it.

After the NV draw on friday finding out that between myself, my son and my brother didn't draw anything I told since we weren't going hunting this year maybe I would stop working out and get fat for a year. Birds and small game don't count.
After thinking about it for a couple of days I decided I've put too much hard work and sweat into getting in shape to just let it go so I'm going to keep at it.
How do you guys stay motivated to keep working out knowing you have a whole year of sweating and pushing yourself for next season?
I certainly don't want to end up like this guy.th (2).jpeg

You have to make it part of your lifestyle. Find an activity you enjoy and do it. Additionally watch the non nutritious foods. These 2 point will take you a long way to maintaining reasonableness until you want to kick it up for a hunt.

Hey now, I look good riding that bike!

Lol! Kidding, that's not me.
It'll take 10x the effort to get back where you are if you give up for a year, trust me I know.
Apply for some doe tags in Wyoming, give you something to look forward to.

move to a state that has over the counter hunting and go elk hunting every year.

for me it is not about hunting, but all about the mountains. every thing is based on doing stuff in the mountains year round. hunting is just a couple of months of that.

I still need to get a boat for the rivers. I've been trying to mountain bike a lot lately. Just got back from a week long camping trip to the north rim of the Grand Canyon/Arizona Strip area. Took the single speed along and got a couple of rides along with some hiking. Probably didn't offset the beer and food off the grill!

Yup, living in the mountains affords opportunities year round. The only time it can be a challenge is the season of life I am in now with the really small kids. But, even then I have my backpack for hauling the 18 month old around which makes day hikes, picnics, etc an option.

Got a really good workout in on Friday, decent one Saturday and a good on on Monday. Burned 1000 calories on Friday morning which was really nice.

Ran the Toughest Half Marathon in the Country on May 27th. Exceeded my goal of <2hr by coming in at 1:55
Usually by mile 11, finishers try to maintain pace and just finish the race. However, being the ultra-competitive person I am, the final quarter mile was an all out sprint for 3 of us. The third runner dropped couple hundred yards before finish and I had to find another gear in my will-power gearbox to out pace the remaining competitor by a mere 3 seconds. So I got in under to hours and beat that goal by 5 minutes! I was pumped!
Now I feel ready for the mountains this fall!
