Saturday: 13+ miles at about a 9 minute pace. This is the best I've felt at this distance. Starting to taper this week for the race on May 27th. I think I have a real shot at breaking the 2 hr mark in the 1/2Mar. Less than 10% usually make it under at this particular race. The 10%+ grades are a killer and they go on for miles.
Awesome keep uo the good work. Try and find some hills to run as you taper off to help prepare for the race.

The heat kicked my butt today for my run. Only got 2.75 miles before i had to give. Walk for a bit and the run another 1 mile after that. 87 degrees at 5pm when i left. And the 15 mph winds werent helping either. One small blister on both feet today which i havent had before cause i use good socks for running. But any way here they are very slow for me.

Race went well today no pr time though. Was close but not quite. The course was all cross country not paved which makes some difference and the last two miles were all hilly which made the back half hard and the last quarter mile was uphill to finish line. But ill take it nice time overall. Was doing great first mile was in 8 min flat then came the hills. Going to rest my knee next few days its been sore all week and work with my resistance band to work it out.

Weigh in today was not good up 1.4 pounds to 264. Been bad with the diet the last week and half need to refocus and get back on track. Might still have a chance at the goal bone collector but its going to be close 4 pounds in little over a week before the end of the month

Marcus,
First congrats on the race! It's unbelievable how far you have come in this journey, in both weight and running accolades!
Secondly, I'm impressed at your mi/min pace at 264lb! Incredible and not bad for a Michigan boy. ;-)
Some advice to break through the plateau: I recommend working in speed days (2-3 miles at 8:30's or run speed intervals) and long distance runs (6-8 miles at 9:30).
All that said, I'm not letting up on the challenge goal of <260. I am going to push you all the way to 250lb before hunting season. I know you can do it. Get'r Done!

Saturday: I chased the running crew for 9.5 miles at a descent clip. The course was relatively flat so that helped. Started tapering for the race. two short/easier runs this week. Race starts Saturday at 8:00. Weather projected to be partly cloudy and 58 degrees. Wish it was 48, but it's better than past couple years (80).
I hope this is MY year to break below 2hrs. I know I can easily run sub 2 in other local races, but I have a thing for this race. It better prepares me for the mountains in the fall.

Yeah i agree i need to work in more long runs since march beginning of april when i ran some of the 6 to 7 milers i havent done one over 3 miles. I also got to get my night eating under control. And some food choice nocked out ( chips with hummus). Dont worry im going to push for it. I havent got this far to fail now.

You can do it. 58 will feel way better then that 80s for sure. Make sure to get some good sleep this week so your well rested for the race. I know sometimes hard to do with work but i can tell a difference in my running adter a week of 8 hours a night and a week of 5-6 hours a night. I have even gone to tracking my sleep length in my help to make me more informed on my sleep habits

Went for a big ride yesterday. route was 80% single track, 21 miles and 4295 vertical feet of climbing. Hamstrings and knees feel it today. This particular ride is one of the tougher ones on the local mountain. Feeling good at 48 to still pull it.

Hard workout on Saturday, was pretty sluggish yesterday and didn't eat that great, then worked out fairly hard this morning. I am hating life today.

mulitiple climbs thru out the ride. but mainly 2 really big ones. climb to the top and drop off the backside, climb back to the top and drop the front side to my truck. real technical trail with lots of exposure to finish up with.
