Investments - what has served you well?

My last 4 vehicles (2 trucks & 2 suvs) have all been used, low mileage lease turn ins that I paid cash for. Saved a lot of money and had good luck with all of them.

BE CHECKING YOUR MEAT FOR THIS PARASITE

Wow...I have never heard of it. Looked it up and it is in a lot of animals. I guess I'll have to be more observant.

I can't believe the cost of college today. I went to a major west coast private (for profit) university in the PAC 12 on a football scholarship. Today the cost to attend that school is $60,000 per year plus room & board. By the time you get done with 4 years, it could easily be 350 to 400 K...

I like it. There are more days between seasons to give the area and animals a rest and easier to find a camping spot with the hunters from the previous season clearing out earlier.

I was fortunate enough to work 40 years for a large aerospace company that had great benefits. In addition to a total company paid retirement they had an employee savings plan where they matched dollar for dollar your input up to 8% and 50% on up to 12% of you contribution. You could invest it...

    Not Sitting At Home

I am scouting my deer & elk area (again!) between 2 & 3rd seasons. Like it that there are more days break between seasons now. I have a 4th season tag and thought I'd take another look as it's only about 75 mile north of my home place.

I shot a buck deer many years ago that was a stag (no balls). His horns were still in velvet and really deformed and he was really fat. Not chasing does, just eating. One of the best eating deer I have ever shot. Never know, he could have been sterile.

    Ruger No 1 .300 Weatherby

I just finished watching the revue on the new Weatherby 2.0. It weighs with scope just over #8. I was curious how much my new Ruger #1B weighs. I weighed it with scope, mounts and muzzlebrake, #9 4 oz. I was pretty surprised that it was as light as it was. Can't go to the range until maybe...

Thanks Buddy, back at you with the same, can't wait until 4th season to get together again.

What did you learn this year?

For sure. I am going to be 80 this Friday and the harder I try, I just realize that what I used to be able to do physically, it just doesn't happen that way any more. I work within my capabilities and don't try doing some of the things (lifting heavy stuff, drinking and eating too much, etc) I...

    Nevada Waterfowl 21/22

I was born & raised in southern California, lived there 58 year till I retired in 2000. My Dad owned several duck clubs in Imperial Valley. I used to hunt a lot at Tule Lake. We have some pretty good goose hunting here, almost all Canadians.

    Nevada Waterfowl 21/22

I have never shot one, but I have a friend that does. He told me they taste pretty fishy, like a Merganser.

Looks like a hen surf duck or scooter by the looks of the bill. Really big feet too.
