Working around rivet guns, heavy machinery and airplane engines did it for me. We wore eye protection, but early on (for 25 years!) nothing for hearing.
For years I have worn Peltor ear muffs while range master. They allow conversation, but as soon as a shot is fired, block the sound. They work pretty good. Never wore them for hunting, but they probably would work there too.

I sympathized with Hunter mom and feel really sad about losing her son in this accident. I don't see how Colorado Parks & Wildlife can be held responsible for this ACCIDENT. I really don't see how the muzzle loading hunter murdered the bowhunter on purpose.
