As you found out, the learning curve on hunting antelope and the open western country is really steep. I first hunted antelope in 1980 and it really gets in your blood. Thanks for a great report .

Boom time or Doom time where you live?

Here in SW Colorado we depend on the natural gas industry, tourism and farming. Even with the Covid outbreak, tourism has been good this summer. Natural gas exploration/drilling is way down and farming is about normal. The impacts from Covid is less than 200 cases and 2 deaths. Jury is out on...

    Wait Times...

It's all about where you punch them! Every animal is different and each react differently. I saw a small forked horn buck run 400 yards after it was shot. My buddy used a 30-06 with a 150 gr bullet, the deer was hit behind the shoulder and never went down on bullet impact. It took off running...

    Your Biggest Buck

Got him in D7 in the backcountry, what is now called the Ansel Adams Wilderness. Most of the deer in the garage were taken there also. I hunted it until I retired in 2000 and moved to Colorado.

    Your Biggest Buck

I killed my first Mulie in 1953 when I was 12 years old. I have shot a ton of them since then. I usually didn't carry a camera with me as they were too damn heavy and bulky. I have a few pictures in my album here. The one I am holding is 30" wide, 6x4 and was shot in the High Sierras in...

    Brass Trimming

I do have a case length guage and measure my brass probably every 8 to 10 reloads. The only time I do measure after every load is my .220 AI Swift. It hummms along at over 4,000 fps and I usually have to trim the brass after 4 or 5 loads.

    Brass Trimming

Spot on. Another question is have the brass been run thru the sizer die? I usually trip after they have been sized because they can move some after sizing.

Good luck and enjoy yourself. This being your first trip, treat it as a learning experience.....as you will make mistakes and learn a lot that will benefit later trips. Have fun.
