You definately need something a little bigger than we use in the lower 48 for one of these bruisers!

    Mo money

I have a Leupold B & C spotter and my swaro bino/rf combo. I usually don't carry my spotter when I'm hunting, by it is in the truck or my sxs.

    Demographics of Eastmans Hunting Forum

My experience is pretty much the same. I usually won't shoot a boar at all or a sow over 150#. I shot quite a few and only one was really not fit to eat (a big boar around #300)

Your Favorite Rifle And The Story That Goes With...

It is my very first big bore rifle. In about 1950, my grandfather bought 8 surplus WWII rifles thru the NRA. 4 03 Springfields and 4 1917 Enfields. Even tho I was only 9 years old, he gave my dad one for me. Dad cut down and reworked the military stock and reloaded some light 30-06 ammo and I...

What Do You Consider Long Range?

As I have mentioned previously, I have Leupold scopes (all VXIII's) with Leupold ballistic turrets for my loads. Every year when I get out my hunting rifles for their pre season shooting sessions, I verify my setting out to 500 yards. Lots of my friends in our gun club shoot 100 yards and...

    Scarce .22 Target Ammo

I met Dave (Winchester) yesterday in Gunnison, a good meeting place between both of our home locations. We had lunch and a great conversation. He is a veteran too and we have a lot in common. He gave me 4 bricks of target .22 ammunition and I agreed to help him with a Colorado antelope hunt in a...

What Do You Consider Long Range?

I forgot to add this to my thread. I used to shoot 1000 yard bp buffalo rifle in our cowboy shoots. I shot a Sharps 45-70. But as i got older, my eye gave up. I got to the point where I could hit a buffalo steel cutout about 50% of the time. The wind was your enemy there too. Would I shoot a...

What Do You Consider Long Range?

The longest shot that I have ever killed a big game animal (antelope) was 420 yds according to my rangefinder. That was with my 25-06. My big game rifles all have leupold scopes with cds dials on them. My local range is out to 300 yds. I do have a spot in the local National Forest that I have...
