Elk are harder but beyond the tag cost, I don't really feel they are much more expensive. Gas would be the highest expense and you pay that getting there regardless of species. 3-5 day cow hunts give you a good shot at success in some areas IF you can find decent access.

We caught fish on bottom bouncers with a crawler, big spinner baits, and trolling small crankbaits at high speed. The walleye were really active as the baitfish spawn is in high gear right now.

Hard to beat 70 during the day and 40-50 at night. Love the early fall weather as well.

You are stating the same thing as we are - you can skip one year but you lose everything if you skip 2. The wording changed in 2019 but the periods remained the same.
