When you realize you are getting old!

I've had both shoulders replaced and I solved the problem of offhand shooting by using shooting sticks. I use a Trigger Stick and it doubles as a walking stick too. Might want to give that a try with you Dad.

    To my hunting partner

I feel your loss too. My Dad has been gone 7 years and I miss hunting and fishing with him a lot. I also lost my longtime hunting buddy several years ago. They can't be replaced. I do have the memories and lots of pictures. You are very lucky to have had such a wonderful relationship with you...

So...What are your plans for 2021?

Tentative....... *Probably act as a "guide" for one of our forum members for a Colorado Antelope hunt. *Have enough points to draw a great deer unit here in Colorado. Have invited another of our forum members to hunt with me as he has enough NR points to draw it too. *Wyoming antelope with...

When you realize you are getting old!

I know I am getting well up in years, but it really became evident to me today. My son turns 55 today! Seems like just yesterday that my wife and I brought him home from the hospital. Happy Birthday Day to my son Steve. Picture is from a few years ago elk hunting here in Colorado. My dad, son &...

    Wyoming question...

Typically whole deer (ungutted) are not weighed much, at least around here in SW Colorado. I hunt Wyoming a lot too and have never seen it. Normally the first thing everyone does id gut the animal. This helps get blood, damaged tissues and innerds out, whivh IMHO keeps the meat from being...

    Wyoming question...

Did you weight him? If so "in the round" or field dressed?

    Ammunition shortage

My son owns his own trucking business and he hauls ammunition & components a lot. He says the mfgs are going 24/7 and still can't fill all the demand. The government agencies are buying a lot too. I guess eventually they will catch up, just don't hold your breath until they do!

    Wyoming 1990

I miss hunting with my Dad a lot. He raised me with values that have served me well all my life, I hope I have done the same with my son. Dad's last big game hunt was with me here in Colorado in 2008 when he was 90. He got a bull elk that made me really happy....and him too. Lost him in 2012.

Thinking about a new hunting rig

Makes sense if you are going to hunt in Afganistan or Pakistan for sheep or Ibex. My wife would probably not like it much, for sure!

    Ammunition shortage

I reload everything except rimfire. I shot a lot (Cowboy Action & BullesEye Pistol) and also practice. I have enough reloading components to last several years. I learned several years ago when a shortage happened and keep plenty of supplies on hand.

    Already a shed?

Every buck I've seen that had antler problems due to testicular problems always was in the velvet. They never shed the velvet and the horns were deformed too.

Warmest socks or boots for cold weather sits

I use the booties over my regular insulated boots when I'm in the goose blind. The work great. They are light weight and waterproof. I also have a pair of battery powered heated sox. Mine are pretty old, but still work. The only thing that I have a problem with is that they use a D battery...

    WV - CO Connection

Our shooting club has an old mount (circa 1909) in our club room. It was shot locally and given to the club several years ago. It has tremendous mass and great eye guards. We even have the tag , it is metal, but most of the writing/printing is illegible.
