    Getting Started Elk Hunting

I assume you have never applied for elk in any state and you have no preference points. You should select a state where you can buy an over the counter tag.....no waiting for accumulating any points to start with. I live in Colorado (as does JimP who posted also) and our state has a lot of OTC...

The Governor nominates the board and confirmed by the legislature. I have contacted my representatives and the committee holding the confirmation hearing. This isn't the first time the Gov has nominated people who are really not qualified or opposed to hunting/fishing.

    Colorado Big Game Applications

I am passing on Wyoming this year. The only tag I could probably draw is the NR Special Antelope and I am not paying the price Wyoming has set for this tag, It's way, way overpriced!! I'll wait until I get a few more points and can draw a regular NR tag.

I voted in their annual elections of Directors and I hope I started a change. I didn't vote for a single incumbent Director and I didn't vote for anyone recommended by the current leadership. I only voted for members who had been nominated by friends and other members. I also wrote in my name...

Changes Coming To Idaho's Tag System

Colorado cut the number of all tags (deer, elk and antelope) in the NW section of the state because of severe winter and resulting winterkill. It is in effect for 2 years. There is lots of information in the new big game brochure I received in the mail yesterday.(also available online) I...

    What’s Everyone Doing?

Getting ready for spring and some local fishing. Looking at a pair of downriggers and some different rod holders on the boat I bought last year. Over the winter I bought a new fish finder and tachometer that have to be installed too.

My niece moved to San Antonio last year and I helped her move. You are right about that. I went to Ft Sam where I was stationed and I didn't recognize much except for Brooke Army Med Center.

Welcome to the forum. Spent a couple of years in San Antonio in the mid 60's when I was in the Army. Hunted whitetail and turkey. Also have a friend living south of Eastland and I hunt turkey and feral hogs with him.

    Off the Grid Question

I have a question for all of you about solar power. Our rifle range has no electrical power. We do have an electric gate with a card reader that works of of a solar cell and battery. We want to to put a security system, possibly Wifi and computer hookup and some security lighting. The closest...
