lol, I have 3 of those. Pretty handy when the power is out- generator straight to house outlet. Of course, shut off those breakers.

    WY 2023 Hunting Season Proposals

I hope you are wrong and they can figure out what is limiting their populations outside of the obvious. I was really encouraged last year in one area where I helped a couple of kids get their first antelope. Numbers were fantastic- like I used to see in the 80s and 90s.

I do appreciate your response. You bring up some fair points but generalize some unfairly as well. I grew up in the town you live in, have friends and family that are very involved, and I still get involved as much as I can from 7 hours away. I understand your points about people that just...

The population will eventually rebound but I do agree, as a non-resident I don't think you will see those days return unless you gain access in limited public access areas.

I also know some that work for them. Most are great people. I just think some of their decisions, at least from the view on this side of the fence, have more to do with money and politics than they do management. Some have that same sentiment from the inside and don't mind some public...

I hear you on that for sure but you are not the average person who would be receiving the tags. I do think that strategy should be part of a creative solution but I think ultimately better landowner incentives is the key.

Some of the regular draws have been raised multiple times recently. With 50 million spare, why did the nonresident moose permit need a 100% increase and then another massive increase upcoming? In areas like 6 and 7, I suggest the WG&F use some of that 50 million to provide much better...

    WY 2023 Hunting Season Proposals

You and I both know that just raising quotas to kill more elk doesn't work in most areas. If it did, they would have issued double the tags in areas like 6 and 7 a long time ago. You like to make it sound simple but it isn't. I did watch much of the task force videos but pardon me if I...

    WY 2023 Hunting Season Proposals

Sure elk are doing just fine but why raise quotas, after an extreme winter, in some of the hardest hit areas? Their budget may be doing fine but I guarantee they don't want to see it shrink. I would also second Mallard's question - If the budget is doing so good why the drastic increases in...

    Does anyone still hunt turkeys?

Saturday morning. Was a fun hunt with plenty of Toms gobbling. I called this one is to 18 yards at full strut for my son.

Should I apply for Antelope in Wyoming or not???

People might be surprised how many does are shot on any antelope tags. I did it when I was 16 one year. Have seen my buddies mom do it a couple of times. It's not uncommon with some residents. I do think it would be very rare for a nonresident simply due to the expense.

    WY 2023 Hunting Season Proposals

Looking through the elk numbers, I can't help but think all those increases are an attempt to make up some of the budget losses they will see with reduced antelope. Some elk areas, in the hard hit regions, seeing increases is hard to understand. Some very curious deer numbers as well... I...

Glad they made significant reductions. That is more than I expected but not as many as I wanted reduced in some areas.

    Dolores County Colorado Hunting Accident

I agree it seems light a fairly light punishment but, if he is a decent human being, the regret of the incident haunting him forever is far worse than anything else they could have given him. I can't imagine what it would be like. I feel bad for all involved and pray everyone can move on.

Should I apply for Antelope in Wyoming or not???

Few reasons to think hard about applying this year imo. Those bucks that survive will have some pretty good feed to develop horns this year. The chain reaction of point creep from those sitting out this year or, from those that don't draw that would have normally would have, will make the...

    Does anyone still hunt turkeys?

Yes- love to hunt them actually. I don't shoot many as I let my son do the shooting. I love to call them in.

Another article on Wyoming's tough winter

I know one who cancelled all deer and antelope and is waiting to decide on elk. I think this winter will put some outfitters out of business.

    Wildfire Thoughts

Really depends on the fire. I would trust the biologists personally. One fire I know of from a few years back really changed the entire mountain and some areas still look like the moon. Many deer and elk relocated and the area is still pretty tough hunting if you don't really know the mountain.
