    Bait for DP traps

I mix cheap cat food, mini marshmallows, and give it a drizzle of fish oil. I keep it in gallon zip lock bags- works great from one season to the next. Fill trap up to just below the trigger, leave a couple bits on the ground, and cover with a golf ball. The golf ball keeps the mice out, and...

    Elk hunting question

FYI - 4.5 may not draw the Wyoming general in 2024 unless you do the special higher priced draw. As to scouting, it really depends. The areas I hunt see a massive change in elk location between late August and mid October on most years. The herds we hunt have seemed to start migrating earlier...

    January cow elk

My wife's last cow elk was the same way. Back straps were so tough you struggled to even eat them. She made amazing hamburger though!

I'll take regular bread and still have money left to hunt lol.

    How many states....

Will be applying for Wyoming elk, deer, antelope, and moose. I don't expect to draw. My best shot will be drawing a random general tag since I only have 2 points. Considering options in a couple more states.

    Youngest son

The studies I was looking at were for organized high school and college teams. Bull riding is obviously worse stats and rookies would really tip the scale.

    Youngest son

Me and 3 friends trained to ride bulls for a few months. First rodeo of the year one of my buddies is first up. He made it 2.6 seconds before getting tossed and stepped on. He was beat up pretty good... the three of us remaining decided against trying our luck lol. He was pretty upset at...

    Youngest son

As stated above, get him professional coaching at a school or other. Buy the best safety gear you can and let your wife be a part of that shopping so she gains some comfort and involvement in the process. Probably obvious but buy really good health insurance and start an HSA to cover bills not...

    Early winter in Minnesota.

I agree- it was -68 with the wind chill at my buddies place this morning in Wyoming. Here in central nebraska I am sitting at a balmy -17 with -46 wind chill. Going to be tough on a lot of animals.

    Hunting Doe

My family loves wild game so we have no problem shooting does/cows of any species as long as the population is doing ok.

How did everyone's hunt go this year is it what you expected and are you going to change your plans for next year?

Regarding elk, I'm going to focus on private land cow tags for a few years. The rat race on public really got under my skin this year. Saw some things this year I hope I never see again.

    Proposed Non-Resident General Elk Regions

To put it simply, I think this will make the quality of a Wyoming general hunt better. I have hunted elk since 1989 in virtually the same couple of mountain ranges. In my 11 days out this season I saw more hunters than I have ever seen. In some areas the hunter density was similar to what...

    Proposed Non-Resident General Elk Regions

I am in favor of this. Imo it will really help with hunting pressure in some areas, especially SE Wyoming. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Cvi8A75hl8p_e9lmvctjog8YINJRvKOh

Wonder how many injuries the cat sustains during something like that or how long it takes them to recover... crazy.

    Successful hunt yesterday

Would love to hear your recipe. We eat quite a few ducks every year and always looking for new ideas.
