It's called greed and envy. Bunch of folks with no real self identity or purpose in life beyond wanting what others have and thinking they should get it too. Farming and ranching is tough.

Look at your remington options - a 12 ga comes apart easy and the barrels swap out without much effort - literally 1 nut. You can also just run with a 26 inch barrel and interchangeable chokes. 11-87, Versamax, etc.

I'd use a 165 NP or Sierra Pro Hunter bullet if chasing elk. If the shortage continues I'd be stuck with the 150 gr versions. 180 seems reasonable for elk but we never used em and instead went w 165 for northern ME deer and 1 moose. These days i shoot 150s out of 3006 when using it.
