Yeti Coolers cuts all ties with NRA

I spent quite a while over on the FB page and saw quite a few post from gun/NRA haters telling them that they were going to quit purchasing their coolers. Well, then they pulled their support from the NRA Foundation and all you know what broke loose.

You would think that a company that caters to a lot of hunting and shooting sports would of thought this through, but it doesn't look like it. Their corporate office up in New York showed their true colors.

I didn’t know the original owners sold to corporate. I would bet that this has a lot to do with the restructure.

Wow, that is shocking to read. I never saw that coming and I agree with most, it sounds like damage control. I do not own a single YETI product and definitely will not now. I am a fan of the RTIC line anyways.

The original owners sold out back in 2012
Pretty crazy. I bet they made a shizz ton selling out when they did.

I’m curious if all this is really going to make a difference with Corp.

Yeti got where they are with their advertising IMO and they were the first ones I ever heard of that made their style of coolers. I wonder if there will be a change in advertising now.

Can someone explain to me why this is a big deal? Why does a company changing it's (probably inconsequential) discount create such a big backlash?

Papa Johns here in the Twin Cities runs a discount the day after a Vikings/Twins/etc victory. If they remove that I'm not terribly angry even though I am a supporter of the teams. Seems similar, no?

I suspect it's because the NRA runs on donations and they never miss an opportunity to play the "poor me" card.

I suspect it's more about folks getting tired of supporting those who would strip their rights from them and has nothing to do with an "inconsequential discount".

ANYONE , individual or company who does not support the second fall under that category.

they have every right not to support the NRA and I will happily support and defend their right to choose .

however , it is also my and all their customers rights to choose not to support them.

they made a choice , to make a political statement using their business to do so.
that is fine but don't whine about the backlash.
decisions have consequences and I have no doubt they pondered over what they might be before they made their choice

Understood. But again, how does their changing their discount program equal them not supporting the 2nd amendment? Or how does it support those who don't support 2A? Maybe I'm just dense, but I'm just not understanding the correlation and anger on this one.

I'm not intending to troll, just understand the frustration. I completely agree that we all have the right of choice.

coincidence????? I think not.

I guess time will tell but it seems to me, and it seems many agree, they picked this particular moment in time to make a political statement . same way citbank , dicks and others are now doing.

now they are second guessing that choice

This is from Ike:

"We are monitoring this situation closely as there are new developments coming out regularly and in situations like this it is best to watch and make sound decisions rather than knee jerk reactions. As for Eastmans', we support the 2nd amendment and believe in the right to own and use firearms." Ike

I am not one to jump on the ,"we must boycott" train.
I expect each can and will make their own decisions.

however , if a company gives me a reason to believe they are liberal leaning , I will NOT give them my business.
