I seen some big ones in that type terrain two years ago. Whole different strategy. Seemed like some long shots needed.

It just seems weird to look at a picture like the one above and think of it as elk country, thanks for the pic.

Congrats on the tag, you guy's will have a fun hunt. It's a different style of elk hunt for sure and pretty neat to watch them in their original environment.

Looks like 100 to me. I wonder how many years it took him to draw just to shoot a rag horn. I guess anything to get a kill on camera.

I in no way against shooting small Bulls. Anything is a trophy with a bow but seems bizarre to wait for that tag when you could go general and find similar bull fairly easy

I think you'd be surprised how many people do this same exact thing in 100. Several of my friends drew out there in a party application 5 years ago. When they were leaving, they stopped at the check station and the biologist said he'd been seeing nothing but spikes and rag-horns that were being pulled out of 100. The 6-points that my friends had taken were the first mature bulls he'd seen come through and this was half way through rifle season.

I agree Lax... That is an average bull in a general unit. That one at 14:04 was worthy of the tag though.... Thanks UH for posting.

Skinzner, the best advice I can give you is bring good optics, and give yourself plenty of TIME!!! If you are even a semi descent hunter you will kill a bull, that is not the issue. If you can take 2 or 3 weeks, you can sort through a pile of bulls and look for a trophy bull. I can tell you, the thing I have learned on a trophy tag, is time is your best friend. If you have other tags, or other places to go, you will feel pressured to tag out too soon. Have a great time, it's a very fun unit to hunt.

Study the maps and terrain, look for those little pockets you can't see from a road and hike in and glass them.

I had a 100-4 tag last year and hunted the last week of October. This was my first time ever in that part of the state and elk hunting in Wyoming

From my perspective the elk were very skittish and ran as soon as they saw me or the truck. I have a feeling they had been hunted and chased around for a couple weeks.

The bulls I saw looked average. Nothing really big but I was only there for a day and a half.

My wife was glad I got a cow quickly so my hunting trip turned into a sightseeing trip in Yellowstone and the Tetons.

I'd recommend trying to have a bull located opening morning and the ability to shoot long distance.

That's one heck of a hunting dog you've got there.
