Lets turn a pack of wolves loose in Central Park and see what these #$!$ wolf lovers think when there $3000 poodle gets eaten. They all think they should be able to control what goes on in our back yard and affects our lives but I bet if we tried it in their home it would be a whole different story.

I saw a documentary the other night on PBS about the "wolves in paradise valley" from 2006. There were some USFS rangers or animal behavior specialists (cant remember exactly) who were trying to "de-program" the "problem wolves" by using SHOCK THERAPY on the wolves by using an enclosed pen with the wolves inside, then they would introduce a cow/calf with an electronic device that would shock the wolves through a collar they wore when they got within two feet of the calf. So, the cow had an electronic device and the wolves had collars. I thought "oh great, they are going to require livestock owners to buy these devices to put on their cattle." Nope, I was way off. They are trying to re-wire the brains of these "trouble" wolves (ones preying on cattle and sheep) by TEACHING them to avoid livestock. This is NO JOKE! They think wolves can be trained like a bird dog or something, hello!!! These people are KOO KOO!!!!
How can you completely reverse the NATURAL INSTINCTS of these top predators? The only other animal who competes directly with the wolves are grizzlies and they DON'T HUNT IN PACKS like wolves. So, that makes these animals Top Predators with no real management planned and its only just begun.

Re programing. haha thats a good one. All thats going to happen is the "reprogramed" one will sit back, watch the rest of the pack kill the livestock, then when he smells dinner come and get some. For a while. Stomach over comes the brains training after a while.
Chris, if you look at the OTC hunts in all the states. Use the quota or lack of them from 10 years back. Or 5 years. Biologists are VERY slow to impliment usefull data so what they have learned has only JUST begun to be implemented. I mean when the feds fund the research, it tends to take years to complete.
Then also use the controled hunts as seperate data.
Watch them by zone and by state. There have been a systematic reduction of allowed permits being sold.
Funny thing here in Idaho, the areas that they reduced drastically the elk permits, they also had the highest wolf quotas to boot when they put on their one season puppet show hunt.
The data speaks for its self, because if there was not an issue, then they would not also be reducing the allowed tags and permits for the game animals.

The "Wolf Man" Dr Doug Smith started it all with the introductio of 14 canadian wolves into Yellowstone in 1995. "Nature without wolves is not nature," Dr Smith says.
I at least commend the Montana governor for taking up for the citizens of Montana and declaring that wolf kills no longer be investigated. I am curious to see what the backlash from the federal gov't will be after , as was said before, he told them to pound sand. I can understand Mead not wanting to get in that kind of contest with the feds but things aren't getting any better. There are also camping spots in Western Wyoming that don't allow overnight camping because of the grizzly infestation. I don't understand why we can't make both of those trophy species and hunt them to a controlled population. In my opinion that would've worked a little better than the "shoot on sight" wolf control plan of action that was submitted initially by the State.

Mead not wanting to get involved is a big part of the problem with the wolf problem if that makes sense. The powers to be need to make a stand and I too commend Gov. Swietzer

Is the wolf a endagered species? Or is the wolf a invasive species? Sounds more like invasive species.

Wolves are a problem where ever they are reintroduced. We have a problem in MN as well. There was a reason our forefathers got rid of them.

The wolf delisting bills have been defeated, What is next? Both the house and senate caved to the wolf lovers. Would a wolf doctumentary showing the kills they make change any thinking in congress.
A group of wolf lovers has a reward fund for finding the people that make illegal wolf kills. There has been two such kills recently and wolf lovers are fit to be tied. At least I get a little satisfaction from that.

Its sad to say, but I don't think congress is going to do anything unless a non-hunting, backpacking/hiking/mountain biker gets attacked.....and it makes a national news channel. Anyone ever thought about becoming an actor!!

The snow is melting daily.......planning on hitting the hills with stick/string the end of the month for some black bear.... Going to try not to end up like the brown bear freak while im out......you know.....just a pile for someone to step in!!!

The wolf should get delisted this week. http:/biggameforever.org has been working to accomplish this goal. The USFGW my still have oversite but at least progress is being made.

Not to start a war here but I believe their were several organizations that supported the current wolf delisting (attached to the budget) and as I understand it SFW one of the BGF partners was not on board.

I really don't know yet who is the big help. If the wolf gets delisted it will help some. I would like the wolf to be extinct. They ran out of sick and old long ago.

The budget bill has passed the House and Senate! Now it needs to make it over Obama's desk without any changes and we should have wolf tags for sale this fall.
