I wouldn't say the workouts are getting easier. The running ive slowly been adding distance to make that harder and pushing my self for times. The abs and lifting if ive been adding more reps to some set and doing for sets for others. And then im trying to add in some more stuff like squats, lunges and burpees to help. The only thing ive been finding to get a little easier is my recumbent bike which means i might need to go up a resistance level or two. My buddy im running the 5k with wants me to try out insanity after we are done with the 5k. Hes done them a few different times.
The other thing im thinking thats not helping is ive been on LOA for 3 weeks since my son was born and wont be going back to work till august 8 so im missing out on that good amount of physical activity i get at work. And its got my sleep pattern messed up as im pulling the night feedings. Plus our church does a meal program the first few week where every other day some provides the family with the newborn a meal. so i havent exactly had my normal diet food wise all be it im still eating only 1800 calories or so but not as healthy a foods as before my leave.
Something to bear in mind is that your legs are the wheel house. Your bike work, burpees, squats, lunges, dead lifts, etc all get the wheel house moving. Very good chance your weight gain may be in muscle form there.
I feel your pain on the baby thing. Had my first this past December and I gained weight during the pregnancy and first month. Babies are rough on sleep schedules, but I have dropped what I gained and then some. Just takes time unfortunately.
