I wish I could run. My knees have been shot for years. I've had surgery to replace ACL's but I just can't deal with the pounding on my knees. I love to hike and walk fast. I usually do about 3-5 miles every other day somtimes less when I get home late from work. I'm back down to my same weight before vaca and a week away working outta town. Now to get back to my goal weight.

I have broke both ankles, have had 4 knee surgeries. running sucks. But riding a bike is very helpful. Just some food for thought.

Changed up the scenery for a weekend hike.

May have a new hunting partner in the works. She was game.

Zoom in on the trail at the base of those cliffs.

Had a pretty good workout last night. Going to hit it again tonight, time to start adding some more cardio type stuff into the mix with this to help the old ticker keep up with what the lower body is capable of.

Sunday was supposed to be a run day for my last workout of week 4s circuits but had to skip for family activities so only got in two runs last week.

Monday took a no workout day also since i got out of work two hours late and had errands to run

Tuesday
Finally got my run in. Decided to go to week 5's circuits. This weeks workout circuits are all different. So todays was

5 min jogging
3 min walk
5 min jogging
3 min walking
5 min jogging

Always start with a 5 min warmup walk and 5 min cool down walk not included in my tracking.

I've been tapering my exercise in preparation for the 1/2 marathon race next week. I plan to do a few short jogs between now and next Saturday. They claim it's the toughest 1/2 in the USA. Roughly 2,000 ft in elevation gain and loss. Roughly 600-700 at mile 11 and it's short & steep!
I'll take a few days off to recover and get back on my normal exercise routine of lifting and jogging after the race.

I have been trying to do a better job of listening to my body this past year. It was telling me that I need sleep and that goes hand in hand with recovery time. So today instead of getting up and working out I slept until 6:30 this morning and then walked to work with a 50Lb pack rather than the squat/chest centered workout that I had planned.

Part of my battle is that it was time to up the weights/reps on some of the exercises. I am also factoring in that I mowed two lawns last night(neighbor had back surgery). All in all it is paying off, wife said that she can see the stomach flattening out and parents who hadn't seen me in a month noticed as well.

Squeezed in a quick flat run last night after work and before an evening Awards Ceremony.

Knocked out 4.5 miles in 40 minutes. It will be interesting to see what my long trail run times do when I start ramping up in June.

As one of my buddy's said recovery time is part of the workout system. Got to listen to the body and takr time off if need be. Something im learning as i go also

It is always nice when others start to see what you are "hoping" you see.
