Planning a mule deer hunt and would like to know what is the best cal for hunting mule deer. I plan on taking my 257 wby mag....I reload for it and it is devastating to whitetail but mule deer are a little bigger then Florida deer

You will have no trouble killing a mule deer with that. I have shot lots with a 2506 with no trouble at all. My dad shoots the wby mag and it's awesome. I've shot a few with a 264 win mag and it works well, but to tell you truth, they don't die any faster than when they get hit with the 25.

Oh yeah....I reload the swift scroccio 100gr with 75gr of RL25....three shot average was 3710fps threw the conograph....I had a 25-06 and was very happy with the results from it. I ended up getting a 257 wby mag this summer just to have more go at long range

Even with a bonded bullet, that impact velocity is getting pretty high. You might have a bit of impact side bloodshot if the shot is on the shorter side.

The caliber and bullet are a good match for mule deer, IMO.

Great caliber for mule deer. IMO. Thats the caliber my wife shoots and she has killed several deer with it. Mule deer and Whitetails.

I've killed several mule deer with my .240 Weatherby - 100 grain Nosler Partitions and Sierra GameKings, mostly. Pretty devastating. A 120 gr. bullet through the .257 would be even more devastating (although the deer wouldn't be any more dead). :D

Great gun for deer.

Your .257Bee will work just fine. I like the 110 gr. Nosler Accubond bullet loaded with H1000 powder and a Fed 215Mag primer.

Old Roy knew what he was doing when he came up with this one!

There are 2 seperate discussion on this that must have 100 comments posted. Go to page 2 and 2/3s of the way down. 25-06 & .257 Wby are there. I own and shoot both on deer/antelope. Lots of good discussion and comments.

If I was putting together a dedicated muley rifle I would think long and hard at the .270WSM.
But that 257 Bee will work fantastic.
