I applied for a unit this year that I should draw for elk and now I'm concerned that if I do draw it and the virus makes a come back will Wyoming Game and Fish cancel 2020 hunting and refund our money? Hopefully it won't be an issue but thought someone might know the answer. Thanks

the very fact that we re eveb thinking about reopening tells me this was all overblown BS.
think about it . what has REALLY changed since beginning of march???
there are more active cases now then there was then. sure numbers are coming down now but if this shutdown really had the effect we are supposed to believe it had , there is zero reason to believe it will not explode again as soon as we reopen.
so far there are suppossedly only three million or so cases world wide . on a planet with some 8 billion or so people.
IF this virus is really the threat we are being sold that it is (which it is not) but supposing it is..........we have not even begun to feel its affects yet.
my advice is ,put in for hunts that fall after the election is over . the dems and their media lackies(fake news
) will do all in their power to make sure nothing improves until then . it is their only hope.

I can't say whether or not "this virus is really the threat we are being sold that it is" but I just had a friend die from it so it's nothing to take so trivially.
...and yes, he could have died from just about anything, but he didn't, he died from the virus.

My thoughts are....
hunting is very social distancing....
a father/son etc... family living in the same home.... no problem, camping etc... with social distancing...
I think one evolution of this virus may be....until there is a vaccine, eventually the country may open up more so to those less vulnerable...and the higher vulnerable may still have to quarantine, etc....or take more precautions.
I think there will be some kind of hunting seasons this fall...

I have an Alaska caribou hunt planned for this fall. I'm waiting to buy my tag and plane ticket until I'm a little more sure the hunt will happen. I'm still planning to go, just trying to be smart. I don't hate having the money for the hunt in cash in the gun safe right now with everything going on.

The one problem that I could see happening would be county health departments restriction their counties to residents only. That I know of Utah and Colorado had health departments do this. That along with perhaps the US Forest Service shutting down access to the forest, they have also done this before.
For me I'll put in for the hunts that I want to go on and deal with what ever comes when it comes. It is a lot like the weather, you plan for the best and have to deal with the worst.

Yeah, I agree with the comments above.
I think there’s a pretty good chance residents will be allowed to hunt, but like Jim said, some counties have restricted spring hunts to residents only so who knows about non-resident hunting this fall. I guess we’ll just have to plan to hunt and keep our fingers crossed.

just because I doubt the need for the panic we have shown doesn't mean I lack compassion/empathy for the fallen and their loved ones.

Hey, I resemble that.No One over 65yo allowed to hunt/apply!
I actually think that those over 65 should get 80% of the available tags and then the rest to those under 65 can fight for the rest.
Gives us old folks something to look forward to.
