Took the new bike for a ride. Not sure if it counts though. Just needed some time alone, and to think about how I going to attack the elk this fall.

10 miles is a run!

Friday: Picked up our rain gear and bought Alaska Game Bags at Cabelas.
Saturday: Lift in the morning, grapple practice at noon.
Sunday: Rode our horses first thing. We are not using them to hunt this year, but they need attention to remember their place. Then we hiked 3.17 miles of up and down trails with weighted packs in the heat.
Ate a salad on the way home, and then went and shot our rifles in the wind. Hot, tired, windy shooting practice. Good times.

We have begun gathering all of our equipment into one location. It is a bit scattered now, and it is time to bring it all together. Tonight we are clearing out the garage so we have flat space to begin organizing.

If I would have tried to run 10 miles this morning I would have been in the ambulance by 9AM lol!!

Seriously though, I hiked 5 miles at a very brisk pace with 25lbs in my pack.

Spent my lunch break on the CPW website with the Colorado MRS section at hand.... that is more for next fall though I suppose.

Got the funds out of the bank to purchase a new rifle this weekend. No State sales tax this weekend...

Garage organizing taking longer than planned. We do have an area cleared and it is filling up with our equipment.

Ordered two Kifaru Gun Bearers yesterday.

Shot 20 rounds apiece in the wind, and bought my wife a 0° sleeping bag.

Continue to pile stuff up, but my garage organization is not moving as quickly as hoped.

I know how this goes! my garage was looking pretty cluttered. I kept putting it off because I knew it would take forever! I told wife I was leaving hunting for a few days, she said not till that garage is done. an hour later that garage looked brand new:cool:

Well I did more hiking yesterday, this time with the climber. It weighs 19lbs. I am going to have to do some work on the shoulder straps.

Have been spending time daily on various State's websites and google earth as well as pouring over topos. Still trying to narrow down to 2 core areas apiece in Colorodo, Wyoming, and Montana to concentrate hunting efforts in the future.

My son and I went and rode on some of the public ground we hunt down here. Mainly to see how far the logging that is going on has progressed. The area's that they logged last year are grown up thick and going to get thicker. Should make for great browsing and bedding.

Bout a new CVA Scout in .35 Rem mainly for our '' primative firearms'' season but will probably hunt with it throughout the firearms season down here this year. Got a 3-9 x 40 leupold mounted on it. Can't wait to shoot it.

Been shooting the bow religiously.

Edit: Almost for got, ordered 14 BLM surface maps for areas I am interested in hunting in Colarodo and Montana.

Grabbed an old spiral note book to keep track of what is done ,needed, wanted etc. Replaced ancient snow tires last week.

Ordered a pair of the First Lite Corrugate Guide Pants today. Desperately needed a pair of hunting pants, figured I may as well pay once, cry once.

Scheduled a 5 day weekend off of work for the 3rd weekend of October. Going to Kisatchie National Forest to camp and hunt the 2 day primitive weapons hunt with my son. Also scheduled to be off early the Friday prior so we can hit the area a week ahead to do some pre-scouting and get a campsite picked out and set up.

No physical training today.

We tried on all our clothes at once tonight. Merino, wool pants and sweaters, rain gear. Everything fits well together and should keep us warm and dry in all but the most frigid of weather.

We also made a list of what we will carry in our packs. Trying to stay light yet take enough to stay out overnight if needed.
