He was a pretty one. I turned him over slow hoping for a band... Not so lucky today. Been waiting for a nice banded blue for my next mount. While you guys were out one of my hunting partners got a double banded one with a reward just south of Utica.

My buddy told me you had mentioned that! Pretty cool! Have you shot any with bands this year?

I haven't yet. I have had at least one a year for several years straight. Hoping I can keep my string alive! Last years was a late migration Ross goose. I posted this pic last year but doesn't hurt to show him again lol.

The year before was a complete luck banded Canada. I was meeting buddies for lunch while on a deer hunt when a flock of them got up on a pond close me. I always have a shotgun so I ran down a ditch line to get in their way. This is the only bird I shot.

If y'all shoot some with a black neck collar, good possibility I banded it in south Louisiana...that would be pretty neat to see.

I spotted a snow goose one year in south Louisiana (read neck collar through spotting scope) traced it back to being banded on Wrangel Island Russia.....just amazing the migration they have.

Had another great weekend. Geese were pushing hard to the north on Saturday but enough of them were stopping here for water to make for some great hunting. By Sunday afternoon there weren't many geese left here. I haven't heard or seen any geese today- guessing the fun is about over for the year here.

Here is a picture of the marsh just south of Utica at first light on Saturday.

Here are some of the birds I shot Saturday morning. For the day I ended up with 11 and my partner shot 17.

Sneakypete it sounds like south or North Dakota is where you will have to go to now! Fast migration!

We're heading east on the 17th now and hope to be setup late 19th or early on the 20th. That's the best e can do. Oh ya pray for another snow storm or Big north wind.

A new wave of geese showed up this morning. Maybe 10k or so. Guessing this one will be full of juvies and ross. I'll sample some on lunch break to see.
