I saw a couple very small flocks yesterday. I had to drive to Omaha, 100 miles to my east, yesterday. I saw one flock of maybe 500 flying north and about 30 sitting on the Platte River. My local marsh has about 200 birds left that all appear to be juvies. Basically the migration is over here. South Dakota should be covered up right now. I'm going to try to shoot a few of these here at lunch today so they may be gone by this afternoon. With these late season flocks, they seem to head north as soon as they are harassed.Hilltop, wondering how many geese are in your area?
They will be gone from aberdeen area in the next few days temps in the 60 to 70's and south winds. Guys up in northern nd are starting to see the push already. Unless we get some serious weather Sodak is going to be done shortly.I saw that yesterday, I thought I'd check with a truly reliable source! Our property owner said he has connections to the north, hopefully in the Aberdeen area. I'll keep you postedI hope you get a couple of blues today to finish off your season!
Sounds good. I think my son got out with me 6 or 7 times. I honestly only hunted one weekend morning without him and a few of my lunch breaks when he was in school. He would go every day if he could so I just can't bare to leave him at home unless it's the type of hunt he could do. The only time he got left behind was a hunt where we were going to be up to our waist in water... just no way to take him comfortably. We are shifting gears to turkey now and even have a day out of school planned. He is excited to say the least...Hilltop, thanks. Next year were going to be snow geese roadies. This type of hunt is so dependent on weather. At least you got some good hunts in and at least one with your son!
