Decoy hunting them is tons of work and a challenge! But when it comes together it sure is fun...
Got that right! I must love the challenge! It can be extremely frustrating! Changed plans and headed into Nebraska Thursday evening! Going to give it a run and see what happens! Probably the only chance this year seeing how fast they are moving through!

Oh ya. I've pulled up on 100 birds landing among the layout blinds. Numerous times. Very exciting, but my life is far too busy to do what's required to be successful.

Sold my spread when I got divorced, and my new wife and I prefer to travel with the horses over laying in the mud.

I think she would stalk them with a cow decoy though.

I'm no expert but I would guess there are 40 to 50 thousand here today. Strong north winds are keeping them pretty grounded as I haven't seen anything flying north. They are jumping between field and water about every two hours a half mile out my window. Hard to get any work done...lol.

I wouldn't be able to get any work done either! We have some guys headed out to scout tomorrow! I think they are going to head towards Hastings and may go southwest from there.

I am exactly 35 miles west of Lincoln and 5 miles north of I-80 or about an hour east, north east from Hastings. Our flock has grown considerably in the last 90 minutes. Easily the largest flock in one spot that I have seen in many years. I'm sure the Hastings/Grand Island area will have a pile of birds as well. If your struggling down there, you can come shoot some of ours...let me know. I have plenty of good private permission close to Utica.

Wow Hilltop! Thanks for the info and the kind invite! Hopefully we will secure some fields. That should be relatively easy. Usually the hard part is killing those smart white Devils!! I will keep you posted. You are also more than welcome to join us. We have a spread of about 1,500 with fliers, rotary machines and all kinds of other gadgets! Let me know! Thanks again!

Good numbers of snow geese over Sioux Falls right now. I think tomorrow will be a good migration day depending on wind. We have 0 snow cover and lots of sheet water.

March 1st is the earliest I have seen snows here before.

Hilltop I talked to our property owner and we hunt east of Mitchell. He said he was a 100 miles north Thursday and he saw 1000's and has a lot of geese in his area. He's worried they're going to ruin his winter wheat crop!

There is basically no snow at all up here in ND so there is nothing stopping the snows from going as far north as they please.

Good luck to all you guys! Post some pics, I don't have much experience hunting geese, but reading this thread sure gets the adrenaline going. Sounds like a blast!

Elk Trout, I missed your message until now. Had a blast this weekend with my little guy. Between me and a buddy, we shot 59. You still in the area?

Fun watching a flock of geese swarm like bees.

My little guy had a blast.

Here are a few of the birds...

More birds are showing up today. Looks like we will get to shoot them for another week or two.

Mainly adult birds that we are shooting. Seeing a few more young ones the past few days though. I'm ready for the stupid ones to show up so we can put our decoys out. These adults are so hard to decoy.
