With regards to bird hunting, any migratory species is illegal to party hunt. Violates the Lacey act, and all morals and ethics aside, that is a hefty fine for just wanting to get a few more shots in.

I've done some pit hunting in fields for geese with 4 to 6 hunters shooting at the same time. There is no way to tell who really got what bird (s) when a big flock of birds decoy and everyone starts shooting at the same time. Some good shots will get more than one and the poor shoots may not get any. When the shooting stops, the birds are gathered up and added to the bag and everyone is told how many more are needed to get limits for all. I've seen it in TV shows, minus the counting. Party hunting for sure!!!

What we usually do is let the shooters who are shy on birds shoot first. Hard to do with some of the guys who really don't care. They usually don't get asked back.

Guys come on, your stepping on a lot of toes by saying party hunting should be illegal, deer drives aka party hunting in Wisconsin are a tradition and it is something dear to my heart. Anyone whose every made drives with a group of family members young and old can relate. Just because its not what YOU like doesnt make it WRONG. Fight the antis, not your brothers.

I have no problem with deer drives and when I was young I participated in quite a few. Hiking through the trees beating on pans and yelling was what the young kids did before you had a tag to hunt.

But it is the one or two people that are sitting on the far side of that bunch of trees that are delegated to shoot all the deer that come out of the trees and are legal to shoot that I don't like anymore. I remember doing one of these type of drives and having a dozen bucks pilled up at as they came out of the trees by the shooters. I just don't think that kind of killing or hunting is necessary anymore. If you want to organize a deer drive through the trees and have a person that has a tag shoot just one deer or multiple deer if they have tags for more than one then fine. But killing all of the ones and then using someones else tag just isn't right in today's world.

Just because something is "tradition" does make it any more palatable even if it may be legal in your state.
