Just saying I don't agree with it, not gonna argue.
Both buy a lisence, both fishing, shouldn't matter

Ethics and morals are two different things...

If party hunting is legal in a certain area and party hunting is the method of take used then "ethically" the rules were followed.

"Morally", one can have a personal objection to party hunting because they judge right and wrong differently.
Isn't that moral relativism, then who decides whose morals we are going to use?

To those that say it is neither ethical or moral....how do you derive at this? For centuries, people have hunted this way.

For centuries there were no game laws on the books either. Look at what it did to the animal populations then.

We are a country of laws that we need to abide by. If it is legal where you hunt then go for it. If it is not legal then you deserve to be ticketed if caught.

what about the opposite way. 1 tag and 10 spotters. I am not sure which one is worse to me.
Evidently you have never seen a Utah bison hunt on the Henry Mountains. I would be willing to bet that there is at least 20:1 spotters to tag down there on most of the hunts. The last one that I was on we had a 9:1 ratio but the next camp over was closer to 30:1.

But then that is a lot of the fun when you have people that are willing to help with finding the animals and packing them out. And I have no problems with people doing that.

From a law standpoint, if it's illegal it's illegal..from a mgmt standpoint, if you can't stand for the animal to get killed, don't hand out the tag. We essentially party hunt here on a cpl properties off permits. I'd like for everyone to be pretty equal on what they shoot, but if I need numbers killed, I don't really care who does the shooting bc I don't want to deal with the headache of not meeting minimum quota and rushing to get paperwork submitted on time. Where excess tags are handed out based on a perceived success rate, I'd frown at the practice, but then I keep coming back to handing out too many tags.

But then the law is the law. If I catch 3 fish when the limit is only 2 I have broken the law, even if I give you to my partner who has only caught 1. The law is the law and if they are watching you then you deserve a ticket if you brought 3 into the boat and gave one to your fishing buddy.
How do you sort it out when you're running 20 guys in a goose pit?

The main issue I see is say with 2 plus deer hunters sharing the last doe tag... both shoot a doe and come back to camp and say hey I shot your doe... now 2 dead deer and 1 tag...

I feel guys/parties will party hunt regardless if it's legal.

I say keep it illegal.

I think most states allow a hunter to donate his kill/meat to another person... so if hunter A doesn't have a doe tag say, and hunter B does and doesn't want a doe, he essentially could take a doe and donate the meat to his buddy.

Slugs hit the nail on the head with his first post. It's legal or it's not. All the rest is superfluous.

We as hunters are our own worst enemies. As a group we seem to want to impose our morals to everyone else's hunting.
But these morals tend not to be based on a solid world view but rather individual moral relativism.
"Well I don't do it that way , and I don't think you should either" mentality. It's that thinking that gets hunting curtailed incrementaly.

I believe that I said in a earlier post that birds are a tough one. But someone needs to claim it and once there is a limit of birds in one persons pile then at least one person shouldn't be shooting at geese anymore. Then as other limits are filled others should stop shooting.

The guides shoot their limits first!! J/k

You claim it, it's in your pile, then when you're done you hang tight and wait for Sandhills or ducks to come through.

I'm not gonna worry about other folks - legal is legal. If they are doing something illegal, that's up to them.

I get pissy when folks tell me that I'm supposed to buy my food from the grocery and hunt only mature trophy animals... I say you buy your license, hunt how you want. If all folks can do is whine about things they think others do, they need to find better stuff to do with their time.

I got on the bad side of a lease holder last year - I got mad some joker ran dogs across my 45-acre hunting lease, decided to call it a trip early as opposed to sitting around seeing nothing for a couple of days. Old guy got his panties in a wad cause I didn't just sit there and hunt knowing the deer had been run off. I asked him what difference it makes to him if I stay or go. Didn't get invited back this year. LOL!

A citizen follows laws in this country.

What he does with his morals defines him as a man not a citizen.

I startex watching a hunting show this morning after id watched eastmans that i had recorded . I had to turn it off in under 5 mins this other show not eastmans . When you start off with explaining how what your about to do is legal and the comments you got after doing it last year but are doing it anyway. It reminded me of the the old eastmans tag line that i believe we all vaule so much and frankly i miss seeing and hearing during their newer shows.

Just remember this
Ethical fair chase no fences public land hunting brought to you by eastmans!!!

When I was a kid it was normal practice, we needed meat I was told. Once I started paying my own way in life I realized quickly that meat was cheaper than gas, bullets, gear etc. I loved hunting so my tag was MINE! I don't like the idea of it at all, especially in today's world. It is illegal here but not necessarily enforced. I hear it every year "we killed some forks and a couple spikes, we still have a few more tags in camp so we're going back next weekend" Pisses me off.

I've hunted MN my entire life and generally we only let the younger guys fill others tags usually. Such as growing up I have 4 brothers, my dad would gladly let one of us fill his tag for him when we were growing up. If someone could only hunt a day or two they'd allow one of the kids fill their tag. Other than that we fill our own tags.
