I was in Denver yesterday for work (essential employee) don't think anyone down there got the message that they're suppose to shelter in place. Looked like any normal day, people all over. Don't understand where the heck their going, not much of anything open.

And that is the biggest issue, how long can you get rabidly independent people to sit still? Denver is a prime example, love the outdoors and it is spring time.

The Denver Mayor tried to shut down liquor stores and pot dispensaries but that triggered a near riot with people panic buying booze and pot. He quickly rescinded his order of the closures.
I know it is a real disease and people are dying , what I don't buy into is the idea that any more are dying then any other year in my lifetime.
sure there is a potential they "might /could ". same can be said in any given year .
just can not wrap my mind around the panic. has our society really become nothing but chicken littles who cower at the mere thought of any ailment??????????? it appears we have.
the number of dead , while tragic is really pretty darn low , when compared to # who have got it .and number infected is pretty darn low when compared to # of people on the planet. heck more die from abortion ,then this disease!!!!
but I digress.
there was a time people tried not to get sick , by simply avoiding those who were. they tried not to get sick by staying in shape and eating right. we washed our hands , covered our mouths when we coughed when that failed and they did get sick, they stayed home and recouped , while trying not to infect others . that is rational.
now when a few get sick(we haven't even reached 1/2 million infected, on a planet of some 8 billion!!!!!!!!!) we must shut down the world !
if it is really so bad , why is amything still open ?????? simple answer is ,it's not really that bad.
any species that over populates and lives on top of each other is going to eventually fall to disease .
it's merely natures way of balancing . humans ,while we can old this off better then any other species due to our ingenuity, are no different.
harsh as it sounds, disease is what keeps a species strong.

Swine flu and bird flu came courtesy of China. The same ones who gave the world the Kung Flu or Corona virus. Thanks China!

I remember all the other flus. During my annual physical, my Dr said "you havn't had your flu shot. I'll give it to you". I said I have NEVER had a flu shot and I have never had the flu, why should I have one now? The problem is I'm 78 years old ! I finally relented and had the shot. If I was 10 years younger, I would have said no, like I did when I was young.

I worked for a large communication company and was in and out of peoples homes a dozen times a day. That along with having a couple of coworkers in my carpool that had kids in school so I was constantly bombarded by people having colds, the flu, and other ailments. I caught the flu back in 1989 and after that I said no way to another bout of it and started getting the shots.
Then when high speed internet came out I was installing and repairing it on those same peoples computers in their homes. I went through hand sanitizer like it was been in a frat house. Luckily I never came down with anything.
Now that I am retired I get a shot every year along with the others that my Dr recommends. Just this last January he recommended that I get the new Shingles vaccine, I got one years ago after a couple of friends came down with it and after watching them suffer I figured that I was going to try and avoid it. I didn't get the new shots for it but I will, it is a double shot. I have no idea of how long apart they need to be but I'll get them.
I did decided that being sick or under the weather complicates the other things that I want to do.

I also have had Shingles...not fun. Hurt like hell. I get shots for shingles, pneumonia and now the flu. Can't be too careful, especially the older you get and your immune system is not as great as it once was.

The problem with the flu shots is they typically are only effective against old strains. I'm not an expert but I believe the shot given this year prevents Covid-14. Hopefully one good thing that will come out of this is better vaccinations on more current strains.

The flu shots are a crap shoot. Right now they are working on getting out what they think will come about in the fall of 2020 and into 2021, it isn't perfect, they give it a shot so to speak anyway.
most all the bad stuff comes from china.
when folks live on top of each other ,like rats , disease breaks out . people will die , from such things , simply because we are over populating our ecosystem, it is inevitable. it is also ,the circle of life.
I am sorry if that sounds callous and is offensive to some. not my intention . it is simply the truth of the matter. no more ,no less.
I have no particular issue with attempting to slow it down. I just understand we will fail in the end. this one may not get us .maybe not even the next or the next or the next or the ..………………………………………………….
one of them will. WE are the plague of the planet and nature will weed us out and that's as it should be.

yep . sure don't take much for a house of cards to fall.
but the numbers to date ,still don't ,live up to the panic. maybe they will in time , maybe they won't

WELL SAID Go-Deep. When you underestimate something like this we can say that's cool yeah it's bad. But when the Government does it Thousands of people will die. iT's good that we all are listening to the doctors and the science people now. We haven't had much of a problem here in coastal Maine but I think that's cause the rural areas are easier to distance yourself from others. The island where the local boys dragged that tree to block the New Yorkers in is right close to me. I might know them but so far no names ... Everyone do your visiting here online. We have at least a month of this.... Good luck and stay safe

I hear your point guide but what good can the government do when people don't listen anyways? Many still aren't following recommendations and the science people change their mind almost daily. Democrats were screaming about loss of rights on travel restrictions in late January and early February. A good percentage of us on here (some still do) thought it was a sham even just a couple weeks ago. The only thing that gets people in this country in line with something like this is fear, close to home fear. I'm personally tired of listening to the media and how they play the different sides of government power. This wasn't their fault. Even communist countries that try to control every citizens movements are being hit. It sucks but in the end a free country like ours is going to catch every bug the globe has to offer, regardless of what their government does.

It is hard to know what's real from what's not when you listen to the politicians pointing fingers and trying to blame each other on the news.
It hit home for me when a friend of mine got the virus and has been describing (on line) the pain she's going through.
She getting a little better now but it's been very painful and difficult for her.
