So how many of you are awake thinking about an upcoming hunt rather than sleeping like you should be? I've had this problem for a couple weeks now, I guess I will be used to not having much rest by the time I go hunting!

It starts about the middle of August for me. By the time opening day rolls around, I'm pretty much used to going all day on 4-5 hours of sleep. That's what it's all about!!!! Hunting pretty much consumes all my thoughts this time of year.

I like your cold fronts better. Last week we had one day with a high of 37 and a couple inches of snow and 20 mph wind ... t-shirt weather here, lol. I thought I saved some tomato plants but they didn't make it. I tried to cover them, but no such luck.
All it did for us was let our mosquitos stay out all day long. Usually get a cold snap around the first of bow season that'll drop temps into the 40s for the AM and then bump up to the 90s after lunch.

Well, that is one good thing about the early frost. It was hell on the blood suckers. Two weeks ago I got eaten alive in the grasslands and this past weekend wasn't too bad at all.

I go both ways this year, East to the Black Hills and West to the Big Horns, lol. I picked up a general license for the Big Horns after I saw some trucks coming back with some really nice bulls. Have to give it a try.

I try to avoid going west as much as I can considering the state I border (no offense CA guys)! My wife does love the City though so I can't avoid it. When it comes to hunting all east and north for me!

Most of my hunting will be done 100 miles to my NE, except for a little 1000 mile detour to the West.
