Everyone complains about the way hunting is commercialized, the second something might be a threat to it...complain about that too.

Don't get it...

We tend to discuss the current issues and this is one of them. A melt-down, I'm not so sure but not having income is a big deal.

This year is different for everyone, how different remains to be seen. We aren't even a month into this "shutdown" and we have positives and negatives based on a person's outlook on life. Pessimism or optimism.

If we can afford to go on out of state hunts that costs thousands of dollars and take off a couple weeks from work just to play, we shouldn't be in a bad spot. The folks who have non-essential jobs (restaurants, theme parks, broadway, bowling alleys, hunting guides etc.), live check to check, and have a job where if they don't work, they don't eat are the ones who are in a world of hurt. The hunting guides are possibly in this predicament. Most of the self proclaimed hunting guides I know are part timers - take their vacations to take folks hunting and get paid to be there. Western outfitters may have a different take but hunting seasons are limited...

Here is hoping that those who need finances can find a way.

Those big jumbo leases the outfitters have bought up everywhere might be a little harder to pay for - and maybe some contracts get broken? Maybe some of them will switch over to trespass fees and allow more guys to hunt? A little less controlled but maybe more folks can benefit off landowners seeking to maximize their income?

The news is showing the protests here in Michigan, but they really are not doing a good job of explaining what the folks in Michigan are protesting. Nobody is saying screw everyone let's just go back to normal. The Governor here in Michigan has imposed some down right silly orders. Being able to go to Menards but once there you cannot buy seeds, plants, paint or a bunch of other stuff on her list. You cannot visit anyone including family. The people of Michigan are not stupid people and were taking this virus very seriously and doing their part then suddenly the Governor decides that you can take a kayak or canoe to the boat launch and go fishing, but if your boat has motor on it you cannot use it. Virus or not your head would have to be in the sand or somewhere else if these types of actions do not concern you. It is a sad time in our history people are so blinded by their political affiliations that any idea is determined good or bad based on whose idea it is not based on it's merits or how it stacks up against the constitution. I hope I am wrong but I believe the United States will be forever changed from now forward with many folks willing to surrender rights that were fought and died for in the the supposed name of safety. "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

So true dan some rules our governor of michigan put I place make no since. The landscapers not being able to work is another. Most of these guys work alone ride lawn mowers and never come in contact with anyone so what harm is it to do that business and keep a few more people out the unemployment lines that the system cant keep up with.

your safety vs your rights is a very interesting topic.

with that said, business owners just need to reopen there stores and let the public decide if they want to come in or not.
It's not as simple as that. If people decide to crowd together in a business and then disperse to other parts of the community or country, they can take the virus with them. Some reasonable restrictions are necessary to protect the public. And we can't always rely on the individual business owner (or patron) to decide what is reasonable.

and that is the problem as i see it. What is reasonable to some is not reasonable to others. Not every part of the country has been affected the same way. No one has died around me. WE have had 50 cases in my county, yet over half of that is not being monitored. The virus has been a non issue, but the sanctions have been a major issue. once again, you should have the choice of going somewhere or not. If you are old and susceptible, don't go out. But it seems like the retired folks and the folks who don't create anything, seem to want stuff closed down more than the ones that do create or need to work to survive. just my feelings and i know half will like it, and half will not.

Some folks have no problem with the govt telling them, what they can do, when they can do it and with who you can do it with.
That is not for me.

Stores should be able to open on a limited bases.

I know that the grocery stores here in Colorado have no restrictions, they take as many shoppers as they can.

However a hardware store that I have been going to limits the number of shoppers to 5 in the store at one time. They shut down their automatic doors and a employee needs to let you in. Once you leave another person can come in.

But a lot of it has to do with the square footage of the store also.

The thing that gets me is that while I don't have the virus and have been working around the house I don't want to go someone else and walk into someones sneeze or cough spray as I am walking down the aisle and come down with the virus.

There is no one size fits all. Some Governors have gone overboard with their restrictions while others are in total denial.

The real problem is many government actions seem to be politically driven. The virus is very real and worse than the flu for some... some precautions make absolute sense. The governments should recommend, and in rare emergency situations, enforce those precautions while minimizing loss of freedoms wherever possible.
