I called in 2 this morning, they came into about 200 yards and busted me some how. They took off runinng and then stopped to look back, then a shot rang from my .22-250, I nailed one! The only problem is there was a 8 ft wide stream between me and the dead coyote and I didn't feel like taking a swim to get a picture. Maybe I'll try to find another way over there later.

I missed again! No excuses this time. I went to the same spot as yesterday and used the Robin distress. It worked. It didn't come in running but came in behind me to the call then went down a fence line. At 150 I squeaked at it to stop it and as soon as I did that dog took off. I took a shot when it stopped around 250 but no luck.

Better luck next time. IMO coyotes are one of the hardest animals to hunt. Good practice in the off season:cool:

I seen on the news, that the anti's were protesting the event. Lol i think every area should hold these " roundups " annually every spring to keep the populations down. I sure wish someone would organize something like this in my neck of the woods.

Some locals here in NE NV just had the first contest of the season, I know there are more planned throughout the summer.

I've missed the year more then connected. I've called in a few and went out two weeks ago in the evening but nothing. I would rather hunt in the mornings. Good luck! We just had a cold snap so I'm thinking of going this week too.

Good luck man! What do you mean how fire was managed?
Sorry it took so long to respond to this DR, i must have missed this somehow. What i mean by "how the fire was managed" is; The fire should never have crossed Smoke Creek Road, it is the perfect fire break, a half a dozen dozers and a couple days work could have cut a 300' wide fire line from hwy 395 to Robers Roost and saved the Skeddadle range. Setting back fires along the north side of the Wendel road sealed the deal for me.
