Fuel prices affect

I am able to moderate my driving options, but living 22 miles from the nearest small town means that we still have to get out sometime. BUT, my bigger concern is that I still have to heat my house. Can a Tesla do that?

yet the nation keeps on electing them. could be hard times for all is gonna be just what the doctor ordered to cut out the cancer .
I would wager that many here who bitch about the high prices voted dem.

I hope all them folks enjoy their 100 dollar bama phones while they are freezing in their homes these coming winters.

Yes fuel price sucks but
If the tanks go dry then we got a problem

I was able to order 3 cases of 12 ga. trap loads, direct from Federal. Twice the price of a couple years ago. Federal has been good about making sure our high school trap team has a years supply......not sure of the price we paid for that, but we have some good donations that cover most of the cost. No hoarding, as it will all be shot in the next couple months.

I already have my trips planned, and money invested in tags. So I’m still going. It’d be throwing out money if I didn’t go. Just have to budget a little differently.

Im feeling lucky in a sick and twisted way that i dont have any trips planned and am fresh out of preference points for the states im interested in hunting in. I say sick and twisted because i firmly believe what CC said, every year im not in the mountains is a year i cant get back, so from that point it sucks. But ill fill the freezer with good old wisconsin whitetail and maybe do a little more fishing and work in my shop on the newly acquired 31 chevy roadster project i am itching to tear into! Like Kidoggy said, all is well!!!!!!

It’s a strong possibility I might go elk hunting in eastern Oregon near Pendleton. My friend’s in-laws have a couple thousand acres with a resident elk herd. It sounds like a cow hunt, but I’d be a lot more excited if bulls were on a menu. He’s new to hunting, so he doesn’t really understand how the draw works.

Something to consider.
After last year of alot, and I think alot, of high point holder hunters getting into the game, combined with a fair amount of people using 2 to 4 points over what was required to draw. I suspect there is a possibility of some weird stuff again this year but in the opposite direction. Hunters drawing tags for less than needed. I know sounds weird with the high demand for tags, just saying. Study your data bases as you just might find some interesting things.

Between the high fuel costs and fighting to get drawn, I honestly don't feel the drive or urge to really get excited this year. I'll apply for hunts but will probably go for the dream type tag and if I get it i'll hunt if I don't I'll go to Cabo.

Being 80 years old means that every year I don't hunt is one less for me. I am not going to worry about fuel costs for my recreation (off roading, boating, camping, hunting & fishing). I worked for 4o years to enjoy my retirement.

I'm 41 and feeling that way! It hasn't been the perfect year for me to go west to hunt, elk, etc... for the past decade, but another year goes by, then it's 5-10 years, without going etc... so I'm trying to actually draw an archery elk tag this year...

I just went on a quick trip for work and you know that its so bad that if they were not paying me mileage, I wouldn't have made any money. lol

I dunno. Gas between Iowa and Wyoming would have to be 2x more than it is now for me to even think about hesitating coming west to hunt. Not because I can afford it, more that I'm not getting any younger; and you guys taught me years ago that you need to be out there doing it to get that experience and learn this game. I'd rather hunt a junk unit and come home empty handed than stay home. Family issues are more likely to keep me away; though thanks be, my kids have been doing better.

That said, I do find myself asking during my daily life, 'is this trip really necessary?', staying home more, and combining trips on my work commute to save fuel.

With higher prices I am leaving my truck in the garage and only using it when I need a truck. Even this coming summer it may stay there and I'll pull my ATV trailer to the trailheads that I plan to ride on with a SUV that gets better mileage and runs on gas which is cheaper.

I have 2 and possibly 5 trips west planned for this year. The first is a family visit to eastern Washington, and instead of the truck/travel trailer, may end up taking the Ford Escape. BUT, the hunting trips will be in the PU, as it's hard to travel on horrible backroads, sleep in the back, and haul all my gear in the Escape.
A long while back I read an article about a guy who made a cross country trip in a steam powered pickup that he fueled from a trailer hauling wood. If I had the skills for such a thing, it would be a worthwhile project, except that I would power it with coal. That would give me greater range, and also really piss off all the greeners as I smoked by their condos.

I’m budgeting $2000 for fuel for my other hobby. If I were to draw an out of state hunt I would have to add at minimum. $2500 It’s real money
