a few years ago the snake river record bow was caught not to far from where I live. record was broke twice within a weeks time. 30+lb fish! insane. fast moving deep water just outside of a huge spring that dumps in off the rez. they are out there, most of us are rigged with 4 to 8lb line though.... the fish that got away was a record im sure:) vikingload what test were you using? open cast spin rod I assume? im so jellous

Open face reel 6lb line. She didn't fight much just rolled like a big catfish does. I took a 10lb out of there the year before.

Too bad those beauts are going into the stomach instead of the river

haha, I hear ya, but those cold water early spring trout are better eats than salmon. ill usually keep 2 between 16 and 18inches, to me they just taste the best. let lose a nice 4lb cut the other day and my buddy almost shit himself and said, he jumped out of your hands right? haha I said nope, put em back in so you can catch em. throwing back a 15 pound trout would be hard for me to do. damn wind has been so bad last few days with temps back in freezing range fishing has been put to bed for a bit.

Most of our rivers have pretty strict limits so if you want to keep one over 20", you're pretty much done. Luckily Flaming Gorge has a liberal limit on the baby lakers and trout so most people go there for eaters. Depends on where people are fishing and how long it takes fish to grow. A lot of people catch grief for keeping 30+ pound lakers and 4lb smallies

Cool vid Jesse, I am glad to finally see where your secret spot is, I think I can triangulate it off the sun and hills in the background. :) I am taking the boat out tomorrow at crooked creek for the first trip of the spring.
