25 antelope were found shot in a wheat field in western Nebraska in November. Nebraska Game and parks caught the guys and they were fined $950 each and given 18 months probation. Sure wasn't much of a fine for all the damage they did killing a whole herd and leaving them to waste. I'm pissed.
Thanks to Nebraska Game and Parks though.

i haven't heard this story, but $950 and 18months probation is a huge slap on the wrist. how on earth did they manage to pull that off? those guys should be behind bars with much much higher fines. was it on their property, damaging their fields? seems a little to small of a punishment.

There weren't many details in the article. Game and parks were alerted by area residents. One guy was 21 and the other 24 years old. Morrill county court.
Also a bald eagle was shot in NE Nebraska 3 miles SE of Yankton SD. They are still investigating that one. Possiblity of $250k fine for if caught.

That's ridiculous that they only get a small fine for that. Thanks for letting us know about it. I think some letters or emails are in order to the game and parks.

What a bunch of crap. Can't believe the fine was that small. What a joke. They should be fined 10X that amount and lose their hunting privileges for life.

I just sent an email to the Game and Parks. They need to hear this from the public. Likely a judge that decided the fine but I'm guessing they can apply some pressure back down the line. That is just ridiculous.

What a joke. They kill 25 antelope just to kill them and pay only $950? Wow!

What does a non resident antelope tag cost in Nebraska? The fine should be at least that much, times 25. I know Wyoming tags are about $300/each. That would be $7,500.

I was facing $1,000 3 years no hunting and up to 6 months in jail over a stupid choice to shoot a bobcat, just 1 at that. these guys got off easy, you don't accidently shoot an antelope, they knew they weren't in season and ect...... I cant find much detailed info on this.

Nebraska also has Liquidated damages, If the judge doesn't impose them the attorney generals office may go after them. It use to be $750 per animal. Still not enough but its something. That money goes to the Game and Parks not some judges retirement fund. I can check into it a little more and try and find out if they were imposed with the liquidatable damages.
