We are headed up on a back country elk hunt in idaho. Wanting to know if it is worth the trouble (weight/space) to invest in an elk decoy. (montana/phanton, ect.) We will be on a bivy hunt about 5 miles in and what we pack in, is what we will have. Buddy and I will be trying to call for each other a little and thought it might be a nice thing to have when trying to bring one in. Just wondering if it worth the hassle to keep up with while in the back country/ or if they are worth it in general.

A montana decoy is definately worth the weight. I love the Montana Cow Elk I Full Broadside Decoy because it looks very realistic and it's perfect for calling situations. If you place the decoy 75 yards behind your position with a buddy calling near the decoy, it will make the bull walk right past your position and you'll get an easy shot! Great investment, and if you're a bowhunter its definately worth it.
