I used a hybrid last year. Only 1 super low gear. My butt was dragging the whole time. REI had a cpl 29er's at half price and I let them go by. Not sure what I'll get this year but It will be a 29er and probably 3" tires.
funny, but you are right, this is not the form of hunting most bubbas would employ, to much exercise is needed to bike the mountains.Don't kid yourself guys, you'll need to be in shape and used to riding if there are any hills to climb. It's just as difficult to ride up as walk and you have an extra 25-35 pounds of bike and whatever the trailer weighs to carry with you. They are great for covering distance in less time over flat ground which is the main advantage. Consider you're fitness and hunting area before investing.
