my life is so far from the ordinary, traditional, family set up it is not even funny. I try to play for all the parents that can't get out, do to the lifestyle kids bring. Financial planning is a little easier for me, besides my wife, there is no one to leave anything to. But the wife does have expensive tastes. We chose not to have kids, and the doc told us we probably shouldn't have kids. the wife got nuked many times during her cancer bout. that is all over and it is play time. We are both self employed with flexible schedules.

I have a good adventure filled life.

coming out fully loaded is where you will see if you brakes work or don't work. I keep telling my self, I will not take 2 front shoulders in one trip anymore. but I always do, and almost always come close to blowing the curve.

what ever bike anyone uses, bikes are a lot of fun.

seven summits trail out of rossland, bc. the ridge top trail crosses 7 summits in the 21 miles. 4400 feet of climbing and 7000 feet of descending. typically takes me about 6 hours to complete. I love these style mountain bike rides. do this all summer, elk season is a breeze.

I tend to take my bike riding a touch more serious than most. lol

I watched both my parents succumb to cancer early in life. I understand living for today. Sounds like you and your wife have it all figured out and enjoying your wife's second chance at life.

Edub,

Thanks for the pics. Looks like the "hitch" is just around the seat-post? It doesn't move up at down at all? Looks slick.......

Don, you are correct, its a piece of tubing that is slightly larger than the seat post so there isn't much play in int. It does not move up and down because of the weight on it pulling backwards, if that makes sense.

you want a fairly solid attatchment to the bike. your trailer wheels will hit rocks and roots and you don't want big jarring going on while you are on the bike.

I picked up a new bike a couple weeks ago and I love it. The new hydraulic disk brakes they have are amazing!!! Been out riding it every day. Haven' gotten a new bike in 20 years and I am like wow when I ride now.

I built up my fat bike to be a hunting rig. I was able to buy another trailer pretty cheap. Should be a gooder. Just in time for deer season. Yesterday, I had a 40 minute peddle and a 700 foot elevation gain, into where I wanted to get my camera set up. started raining half way in, had the rain gear on the front rack. Love it. Got the cam set up on a trail where I have seen wolf, elk and deer tracks.

Cool thread. I bike and hunt (separately) and have been curious to find a way to combine them.

Anyone recommend a starter model bike for this?

Lots of opinions on this I'm sure but I just bought one that was on sale last year. Nothing fancy by any means. Just a regular mountain bike with disc brakes. I'm not planning to take mine on trails or anything. I'll be using mine more to access roads and travel roads behind gates on the forest areas. I'll get off and walk when the road gets bad or when I want to hunt. I know Tim has some really good ones and a lot of insight so I'm sure he will chime in as well. I'm looking forward to trying mine out if I can draw out again

Thanks, I have an older Trek 7300 Hybrid bike, nice bike but not ideal for off-roading like a Mountain Bike. The Trek 7300 is more of a trail bike (nice trails). I'd like the disk brakes too for all the reasons mentioned, my old Caliper brakes ain't up to the task I don't think.
